ok , here's more on the evolution of "JUST" the front lights .

I started 2 days ago with the lights chehystpewpur sent me . seems like most of the "modifying " was with my ideas - that didn't work or were revised as I went along .
the original 1st mod I did transitioning from stock lights with plastic,fairings, etc. , still on - lasted about a month and the stainless bracket I made cracked and was hanging by a thread.

So, about 3 weeks ago I made the 2nd one.

So, here's what I ended up with for the next light mod. went from 1" alum. flat bar to 1"x1" alum. angle. worked fine ; no vibration -at all. very pleased.







now I have the gift of the new lights and did this -

found these new brackets at local place along with 1 1/2" angle . I'm told by Frankenmech that the gold/alloy bracket is a TV/flatscreen wall mount bracket.
thought I needed to cut off the lip on bottom of bracket.
so, out with the worn out cordless - wouldn't touch it -so , out with the skilsaw with metal blade.success so , figured it'd be good for the angle too. Wrong . failed miserably , so out with the hacksaw. success.

Revision- turns out I didn't need to cut off lip with skilsaw. oh well.

now I need to cut a hole, roughly , 1 3/8"/35mm diameter in a piece of flat 1/8" alum. ; and then give it a 90degree bend ; to fit the projectors into and then mount it to the alloy bracket mounted on the column.
I think I can find a paddle bit here in my state of the art shop.


I guess I'll have to take it somewhere and have a hole cut into it.

You can get a 1-3/8" hole saw at any home-box or good hardware store that fits in your drill motor.

You will also need the arbor for the bit.

Check with neighbors, the bits are pretty common.

yeah i was going to suggest a hole saw actually. they are cheap and inexpensive now and for handy work sooner or later youll need one anyways. cutting through aluminum should be pretty easy with one. you might need a little oil or something if the bit starts to get hot.

well hell yeah . totally didn't think of hole saw's. just bought 2 at Ace recently . just called Ace . has 1 for 10$. been using oil for all my cutting , drilling.

  these come with the hex arbor.   it has a set screw - loosened it but still wouldn't come apart.

glad to hear you got your computer back and also that you forgot about the all mighty hole saw. they are easy to forget about but are so insanely helpful for random things. i wen to sleep the other nite thinking man that sucks youll have to go to a machine shop and pay them and woke up going oh yeah speaker box round ports and some projects on vehicles at my old repair shop we used them. but frankenmech beat me to the punch.

yeh, that's cool. I decided to get rid of phone and internet ... for x amount of time . so, I won't be here for a while. I'll go to Ace tomorrow and then continue on with lights before I leave web and phone . I'll post results before I go .
