In the last month I've replaced the float needle in the carb. Changed the petcock. Replaced the fuel line. Changed the belt. Put in new rollers. And replaced the clutch. And still no change in the performance of my scooter. It still hesitates a few seconds when I give it throttle and it still has hardly any acceleration. I'm honestly about to just get rid of it and get a new one. I don't know what else to do.

What scooter is it ? 4t or 2 stroke? If its a 4 stroke consider a big block kit. It seems you know your way around a scoot. 40 mph is a reasonable speed for a 4 stroke 49cc scoot.

Yeah its a 50cc tao tao 4 stroke. Sometimes it'll get to like 30mph then suddenly just drop to like 15mph even at full throttle.

Surely there is a knowledgeable scoot wrench around Orlando that will take a look at this scooter?

Princess:"Sometimes it'll get to like 30mph then suddenly just drop to like 15mph even at full throttle."
Sounds like it is either 1)running out of fuel(sticky float needle? Gummy float needle bore?) or 2)having temperature problems. Once it drops back to 15, can you get off the throttle for a minute(go slow) and then open the throttle up again and get back to 30mph? That would seem like fuel starvation. OTOH, if it was overheating, I think it would take a bit longer for the temperature to go back down(and it might not for a good whild) before it would run well again. I also think if it was temperature, there would be loss of performance over time, that never comes back. Have you looked inside the fuel tank or taken the fitting from the bottom of the tank to insure there's no stuff that gathers around the tank outlet fitting which could/would impede the flow of fuel out of the tank? Have you looked at the 'inlet' side of the petcock? Some have a plastic tube that looks like it is made of screen that is up inside the tank, the idea being that the screen will block larger chunks of stuff from flowing into the petcock, messing up the cutoff valve, and continuing on to the filter, eventually clogging it. tom :

Man it's so hard diagnosing when you can't see feel hear it doing the issue ! lol But obviously you have been in the carb so that is 99% where i would start ! lol All i can do is give you some areas to look at , Diaphragm did you install it properly or inspect it for holes or bad fit? is it lifting properly . Is your air cleaner on ,do you have a stock or modified air box or pod filter ? If it's a stock air box did you remove the snorkel hose? Is your manifold leaking air cracked or missing o ring or the phonelic spacer under the carb cracked , or it might be plastic ?
That is where i would start, You should list what you did be for and how it ran be for you tinkered with it ! A video of the issue would really help , i am sure someone here will hit it on the head then .. This is what my mentor told me one time , " Your motor is always telling you what it want's or needs your just not listening"
It takes time but you will learn to listen and avoid serious problems or issues be for they damage your ride or make you push it home !

50cc tao tao 4 stroke. Sometimes it'll get to like 30mph then suddenly just drop to like 15mph even at full throttle. Potential electrical gremlins include loose ignition coil connections, or a deficient sparkplug cap.

Ok so I think I finally got it. Scooter speed is good again (35-40mph) only issue left now is it still hesitates a couple sec from take off and the idle seems to be a little low. Once started after sitting overnight it takes it a good 4 min or so to get warmed up. If I drive it before then it'll stall out when I stop. But after about 5 min or so it's fine. Any more suggestions?

Check valve play, Intake manifold and also its sealing ring. Also if all clamps (carbwise) are tightened.

I’ve tried to fix carb gremlins ,jetting etc & still had issues , now I just replace sick carbs , must be weird castings causing air leaks or ? And replaceable ones with adjusters & serviceable screws make life happy . Just my 2 cents worth

What gremlin did you find? The fuel line had a small pin hole in it.
