Is there any possible way that , if my chain was off one tooth on the cam gear that could cause the scooter to run rich ? I've tried adjusting the sur clip on the needle and I went from a 102 main jet down to a 100 and haven't been able to tune to the sweet spot and I'm beginning to wonder if it isn't something else beside the carb. This motor has around 300 miles on it and ever since I put it in it's drinking gas like crazy. I haven't calculated but I would guess about 25 mpg . 4th plug since Feb. , every one of them turns black .
Do I need to worry about it , over time , dumping so much fuel into the cylinder , and thinning my oil out so much I ruin the motor ?
thank you

Is this a 2 or 4 stroke?
If 4 stroke, does the oil on your dipstick smell of gasoline?
I ask those questions only because mine is a 4 stroke.

Also, I've had my cam advanced by one tooth and set it back to zero and seems a bit doggy now

I smelled it earlier in the week and didn't smell any gas ; just before changing it but the oil might have been a little thin . Yes 4 stroke . I'll keep checking it .
So, when you had it advanced do you know if it ran rich and you had to lean it out some ??
