I finally got my 2019 Yamaha SMAX. I have wanted on since before I bought my Genuine Buddy 170i. I got the Buddy to carry on a rack behind my motorhome. I was concerned the SMAX might be a bit heavy for that rack. Anyway, I now have two scoots I plan to trailer behind the motorhome. My lovely wife will ride the Buddy because the seat is low enough for her to "flat foot" it but not the Yamaha. Oh darn, I have to drive the Yamaha.
I live in Dawsonville Georgia and I checked with three dealers around the Atlanta area for price and availability. Only one had a 2018 in stock. I did go look at it and sit on it, they won't let you drive them. The two dealers who gave me a price wanted to add almost $1000 to their asking price for shipping, assembly, document preparation, and tax. I found a shop in Cleveland Tennessee that had two 2019 red scoots in stock and contacted them through the Yamaha website. They wanted MSRP out the door! It is about a two hour beautiful drive partially through the north Georgia mountains so I bought it there. I did have to pay Georgia sales tax to get it registered but I saved a bunch of $$$$.
The dealership is Ed's Cycles and they were great!!!! They did not want to take a credit card because of the fees so they got it ready for delivery on my word that I was coming up to buy it. I paid cash when I picked it up.
I tried to post a picture but I'm 69 years old and technically challenged. Ever since photo bucket started holding my pictures for ransom, I have not been posting pictures. At least I still ride my scoots and occasionally my FZ!. Not bad for an old man.
My pictures are on a Macbook and I cannot figure out how to resize them.

I rode about 90 miles today from my house to Two Wheels Suches twowheelsofsuches.com That is a nice ride of about 35 miles from the house and some fun twisties along the way. The Smax is way smoother running and riding that my Genuine Buddy. It is also faster however I am taking it easy for the first few miles per the owners manual. I did see 70 mph indicated at one point in the ride. I tracked the mileage on Fuelly and got 86.6 mpg for 90 miles on this tank. I was pleasantly surprised with that. Using Waze gps it seems the speedometer reads about 5 mph high at 50 mph.I have read these will run 80 mph but I don't know it that's indicated or gps but I intend to find out eventually. I would love to find an Smax totaled and transplant to engine to my Baccio Speedy. That would be a fun machine.
