I say 2006 vento triton r4 they have no top speed limit they just keep going as fast as you can on downhill and cruises at a steady 55 mph average speed on flat stock i know they say 49cc but i heard a while back they were imported and actually had a 63cc engine when my uncle bought one brand new he said how many cc the man winked at him and said 49cc with a smile later i found online some of those ventos had 63cc engines with 49cc stamp i even heard something similar about the tao tao but don't quote me on the tao tao...

That is a very hard question to answer. The needs of the driver could vary widely. A 50cc is a poor choice for me where I live now because the speed limits are too high for me to safely drive one around the house. Some like to drive interstates and need something like Brent has. I bought my Buddy 170i to put on a rack on the back of my motorhome and it is great for that. It weighs 85 pounds less than my new Smax and will run about 65 mph. The Smax is faster with an 80 mph top speed (from what I read) it so much faster on top end but still breaking in. If I could only have have right now, it would be the Smax because of the faster speed. My Wife will be driving the Buddy and we will tow them both on a trailer behind the motorhome instead of her heavy, boat anchor of a Jeep Rubicon.

Matlock, She knows how hard it is to pull. That's why she agreed to ride the Buddy. She has her motorcycle endorsement and a Suzuki Boulevard 800.

If you drop any 49cc scooter from an airplane at 3000 feet or higher...it will hit near 120 mph. Really! Splash in a GoPro or clone? Priceless video!

i can mostly attest to that vento speed rating mine was a 2t. i have a similar scoot and the brand was bought by vento so most likely many of the same parts. i bought a dead keeway fact 50 racing model for 300 bux some years ago. the owner stated it had a diff motor but was replaced with something easier to get when he ran it out of oil and went in the 60-65 mph range. it had the silver side cover for the cvt and was most likely something like the aerox had but air cooled or a piaggiao or aprillia motor. was replaced with a higher end mina clone and after i fixed it and replaced the exhaust because it was ruined by a bad oil pump it would do about 50-53 staying below 10k rpms after some tuning. previous owner did say it was about 10-15 mph slower after motor change and thats about right. it was also titled as a 50cc not 49cc which was weird but still didnt require insurance and the owners manual claimed 4.9 hp instead or 2hp or less. motor also lasted 15k miles for me and was still a running motor when pulled to replace with my current built motor. it seen 10k rpms on a daily basis and may have had one of the higher quality 12k rpm cranks but i never wanted to test. recently got an aprilia 50 motor that looks very similar to what is supposed to be on my bike and will be building that next it has disc brakes and its better than the cheap cases i built so i didnt have to build and swap a motor on my daily in 1 nite.
moral of the story it was a freak bike and deff my favorite. but any scoot that treats you good and meets your needs is a good one. ive had it for 30k miles and we have a love hate relationship but i could never sell and i dont regret buying it or the money ive spent on it. its a toy its a hobby its a drug. and when you can find the really cool or special ones other people will never understand why you love something so ugly. eg any 180cc 2t scooter but deep down youll know what its all about and its alot cheaper than many other hobbies and anyone can do it. this scoot replaced a v8 bmw that was just shy of 300 hp and i literally have no regrets selling it and buying this scoot and driving it for 30k miles.

I have one of these. Chinarelli. Ningbo GTX 2 stroke. stock it was okay. on a good day it could get up to "50" on the speedo with a tailwind. then you realize that the stock speedo is 5 mph over what is actually indicated. came across a "Yamaha" ATV 83cc block at a Chinese moped shop here in Honolulu for $350. 50mm bore with a 41.2mm stroke. im pretty sure it was an ATV block because it did not come with the drum brake parts (lever & pivot pin). later on I came across a Taida 54mm bore and a YMS sectional V8 pipe for a BWS 100 from a local shop Motosource. I also added malossi up gears. did the full on "Hawaiian Style" chrome CT manifold, 28mm OKO, carb bell mouth, no filter...the same set up that all the "fast" Hawaii DIOs run here. bottom line. there was a time I was buying all kinds of 70cc performance minarelli parts from Motosource. my bike was Chinese, so he refused to work on it, but he would sell me all the minarelli parts and he would help me troubleshoot when I needed help. after several months of buying parts, one of the mechanics/tuners told me, "Just get a REX block, add some up gears and you going run with the DIOs all day long. Strokers and all." here on Oahu, the SMC REXY(49cc) was a Taiwanese clone of the Yamaha Jog. The SMC REX(90cc) was a clone of the Jog90. I must say, that it is true. run a 90cc minarelli with upgears, you can run with the best of the Honda DIO's, ELITE's, the SYM dd50's, Daelim Cordi's, and Kymco's. 50mm Ruima, ministroker setups, the infamous Polini Corsa and PG Long pipe combo, Corsa with Arrow pipe, the full strokers (125cc) with the Scorpion pipes. The Minarelli is an amazing machine. it's just like what all the comparison write ups say; the horizontal Minarelli breathes better than the Honda-type vertical because of the engine's intake. once I switched to the 54mm air cooled Taida bore and the V8 pipe, I can count the # of Hondas that out ran me on one hand. so far only 1 PAL and 1 TACT. 2 out of the countless "Hondas" here on Oahu is pretty good in my book. the 54mm bore has so much more grunt but it doesn't even rev past 10k so it's not "screaming". aside from the wide open 28 OKO sounding my arrival from 1/2 mile away, my Ningbo GTX performed very well once it was modified.

I would be very surprised if that triton got to 60mph. I couldn't see anywhere in that that said it could do 60. And with only 4.9hp! I had to get nearly three times that to get my aerox to 60.
Those 63cc scooters are like unicorns. Everybody has heard about them. We just all want to get one.

I have another point of view to add: To your original question, the best scooter for anyone, is the one that fits their arse, fits their wallet, and continues to force a grin worthy of bug implants.
I have seen people who made good use of a YUGO. Pull old cars from mud and make them run. What you have is future gold...platinum...silver...copper...brass...aluminum/aluminium...oak...pine...sawdust.
I once had a 1960 Mercedes Benz 220S with HYDRAX 4 speed. Hated in the 60's in Europe, loved in America. I paid $3000 USD in OK shape, but needed interior work. Fixed all, drove it for 5 years and sold it for near $7000.
Today? Highly sought after. The HYDRAX tranny does not fail. Priceless.
