If you have the funding I would strongly suggest building a Tadia 232cc. Mine has around 3000 km on it with no issues and its a very high 13.4:1 compression ratio running on 112 octane gas air cooled and ive taken it on over 100km long rides and it hasnt missed a beat.
Only relashed valves once at 100km and change oil every 500km. Never had to touch the motor other than that
If you do an air cooled 232cc with lower compression say around 11:1 you could run regular 93 octane pump gas as a daily driver no problem.
It is worth noting the 232cc will stress your frame and find loose bolts rite quick. Also a good sized oil cooler with a QUALITY oil pump is a must for a long distance motor. I like to keep oil temp under 220 degrees

I gotta be honest, I went to a dealer to check out the Duke 390. Pretty sure my mind is made up. Keep the scooter as a "local" cruiser and use the bike for long hauls. One item on my bucket list is Route 66. The KTM would work well toward that goal, and get me back on a proper bike. Still love the ruck tho, solid.

I like that fact that the all-out 232 currently takes first place. If it weren't for the KTM and the resulting $10k+ on two separate two-wheel riders, I'd probably go for the 232! Feedback still welcome however, appreciate it.

Really liking the Remus/cat delete pipe. Next decision, with dB killer, or without dB killer.

My friend had the 390. Loved the bike. Just got fed up with all the problems he kept having. Probably didn't help that after buying it. A month later KTM knocked £1,500 off the list price of a new one. Making his bike worthless. 😢

KTM "unleashed" the bike with the 2016 model by making it less of a beginner's bike. Current MSRP for a late model is $5500, the dealer gave me a $4500 price tag, and when I said I'll put it on the back of the truck right now for $4000, he said no. edit: BTW, can't imagine this bike would give me any more problems than I face with my chopped up scooter!

Was the 2017 model. He had two dash displays replaced, and a few other smaller problems. He brought it as he wanted something different to the big bikes he owned. Did really like the bike. Might of just been unlucky.
