While they aren’t the cheapest solution the Stage6 / Koso gauges work well. They are about $65 from a quick look. Mine is the older version but I’ve been using it for well over a year along with some other Stage6 gauges.

aeroxbud, ryan_ott
that's pretty dang nice. I like the variable resistor. I've spent so much tho. I'm dieing here . I have a nice Koso gauge I already bought too, just no gas gauge with it. I think I'm gonna cheap out and make a housing for my TaoTao gauge . it'll be really special looking. it has this neat needle/arm that swings. retro.

Can't help myself but to say they're not needed. A good odometer and trip odometer and basic knowledge of the fuel consumption and tank size works pretty well. Just err on the side of safety... which I'd do with a fuel gauge as well. That said, I used to use an Auto Meter for a Ford on one of my scoots. Happened to match up to the readings from my sender. Some of the analog stuff from well known brands isn't too expensive if you are lucky enough that your sender matches up to one. Not what most people seem to want, but I kinda liked it. 49ccscoot.proboards.com/thread/419/auto-meter-level-gauge-install

Only guage I have on my ruck is a stage6. But i had to use a Met feul sender since the ruck only has a low fuel indicator light, not a sender.

My Zuma build only has the bare essentials- tach and cht gauges. But recently I've been riding a little Honda elite as a grocery getter, and the fuel gauge is nice. It definitely adds a feeling of security seeing how much gas is left without having to look into the tank. I may end up adding a fuel gauge to my Zuma when I get it back from Az.

Some of the old mopeds used a similar design for a fuel sight glass.

well, I went ahead and did this- without knowing it's fuel resistance . I'll see what happens . I just bought this JB weld the other day - just for future use . anybody know if this is a bad idea ?

ryan_ott - I love it. even before I put the zip tie onto my gas cap I was looking at your idea. I'm wondering if, instead the petcock I could just put tee or Y where the gas line comes out of the bottom of the tank and run a hose up to the vent at the top of the tank. ? what kind of tee or Y would you use ,? like the ones used for vacuum lines or metal ? would the plastic vacuum line ones hold up to fuel ? seems like they would but I don't know for sure .

right now the tank is basically empty and I don't really want to put gas in it till I'm ready to crank it up ; so I don't have a way to know if bottom to vent will work .
