Dave needed one and couldn't find a source so he got a set of aftermarket primary gears. Went from the 10.14 to like 9.98 but new.

Yeah I had no luck finding the stock 16t primary. I ordered on from partsforchinesescooters after talking to them on the phone and I got a 13t. Ended up with Malossi 14/42 and a final 9.92:1 ratio but I also dropped a tooth on one of the secondaries by using one from the UM50 motor with the 13.?-1 ratio. So there's a mix of gears in it now.

I will PM you John. Thanks for the info all, and thanks for the effort searching Elektrey. I was considering these : scootertuning.ca/en/gears/71003-stage6-15-50-primary-gearing-cpi-vento-keeway.html15/50 would be 3.33:1 primary and I could pair it with the 3.38:1 secondaries. That would give me around 11.26:1. Maybe a small amount more grunt with a small amount less speed vs the 10.13:1s. The big engine could prob use the opposite change in gearing, but I kinda enjoy that initial hit with the 13.52s when they're in, just get tired of being wound out at 50MPH.

I don't have the patience to ride 35MPH on a scoot that can do 55MPH when I'm on a road with nothing around for 30 miles. That's how it is on stretches to the beach. From here to one town is about 8 miles, then about 10 to the next town, about 15 to the next, then about 30 miles before there's much of anything around again. I have done it at 30-35MPH on the TaoTao, but it took 6 hours to go straight there and back WOT full time. I live in an area better suited to big bikes really, but I love my scooters.

Sounds exactly like when I used to live in the thumb of Michigan- towns were spread out for miles and miles like that. Now, I can barely find a road long enough for a good WOT run and that's at nighttime when there isn't tons of traffic...

I can almost guarantee a lonely road for test rides. My problem is the damn hills around here. It gets hard to judge performance improvements, when the road is up hill every fifty feet or so.

I've decided to give the primary gears from scootertuning.ca a shot. Never ordered there before, but I've wanted to. Just not in the market for S6, Polini, etc... often myself since I'm into 90cc+ so much, but they support the forum and they get great reviews from everyone here so it's about time I place an order.

LOL I was just funnin' with you. Years ago I rode from Pasadena to Santa Monica beach and back one day on my stock 139QMB and rode around for a while down there. It's probably about a 80-90 mile round trip. Just the trip down and back took about 5 hrs. cause there's a friggin' traffic signal every 200 ft and a slow scooter. It wasn't that bad going to the beach cause it's all a slight downhill slope but coming back sucked (3 hours). It wasn't too long after that I got a Minarelli scooter and sold that 4T not too long afterward and never looked back. Next year when I can afford another scooter I'm gonna do a BBK Minarelli (finally) for fun but I also wanna get a 150cc 4T for longer rides cause I feel they are a bit more reliable.

I got the replacement thermocouple from Trail Tech today. They sent a couple of decals as well. Just an update so ya know they followed through. No hassle.
