I think it looks good man! Real clean and crisp. Solid looking for a naked scoot if you know what i mean?. Props, proud! Good work The tear in the CVT cover paint job and those wheels just make the scoot IMO! Then add in the subtle looking PG exhaust and its just right

Thanks guys. I did the compression test with the kick start finally. I was aiming for 175psi and guessed that 155 w/the electric starter would get me there. 173... I'll take it. The CVT was right on. I could go back to 2000RPM clutch springs to get a faster launch, but I like the 1500s for daily riding. I can leave a stop without having to rev much that way, really pays off vs the 2000s if you get in traffic or a long line at a light where people are just inching along. I had a 100 main in the carb. That was pretty low on power an only showing 260 degrees on the CHT. Went to a 95 and it ran great, but CHT was over 340 degrees. Swapped to a 98 and it still ran great, but temps are still over 340 WOT. The Hoca kit has a big cylinder head, so I was kinda expecting it to cool better. It might be too big? The fins are right up against the engine shrouds, no room to spare anywhere. I also went back to the standard fan shroud instead of the one with the scoop. I don't think that's the majority of the problem though. When I tried scoop vs no scoop on Project 90 it made about 10-15 degrees difference. Might still go back to it. The reason I left it off is that I painted it on a humid day and the paint soaked in moisture or something and ended up with white/gray areas in the black paint. Even did it on the cardboard where I got overspray. I rode about 30 miles and was hard on it. No issues unless you count the temp. Got as fast as 57MPH sitting up, but I had the help of a tailwind. 51MPH sitting up into the same wind. Nothing spectacular, but I think it should be a good cruiser with decent speed and that's all I was after.

Just when I thought it was all set, I went to fill it back up with gas and the lock on the gas cap is acting up. Stuck the one from the Venus on there for now (I've already got it's carb and pipe so it ain't goin' too far).
Also wanted to note, the new shock is an adjustable from VT Cycles. I put one on the Venus, same but shorter, a while back. If anyone needs stiff shock, talk to them. I'm 300lbs and the shock is on the softest setting and doesn't move that much. Same on the Venus. Beefy, reasonable price, looks pretty good.

I rode about 50 miles last night and saw much better mileage than my trip to the car show's 40MPG. Now with the correct gas cap and main jet I got 55MPG. I was in town a lot and just cruising enjoying a really nice night, but should still be good for 45-50MPG running it pretty hard. Tried to get a friend to race me in his 4.3L Chevy Blazer, but he wouldn't really race. Top speed tucked so far is 62MPH. I think some variator changes would boost that up a little, but I'm pretty happy with it all around. If I tighten that up for more max speed I'll be losing some grunt off the line. I take off more than I top out, so I'll prob leave it alone. Much easier on belts that way too from what I've seen in past endeavors. Went for another ride today and realized about halfway through I had no lights. Oh boy, electrical fun!

Brent can you post your carb and jets pics. I wonder how many do you have in your collection.

Brent can you post your carb and jets pics. I wonder how many do you have in your collection. I have a few. Here's a pic from the Project 90 thread of my carbs. I picked up another stock carb with the flat top for $30 new a couple of weeks ago too, and I have a 24mm DellOrto as well (just like the 25). Can you tell I'm a DellOrto fan? I want another 21mm so I can get the Venus back together and keep T2 setup as it is, but no money. Could sell a carb to get one, but that's no fun. I like to collect. lol Here's an old pic of some jets. One box is rollers though. I have all the spaces filled in those now and another small jet kit now. When I tell people "I'd buy a wide selection of jets to tune", I'm not just saying that. lol I really want more, but it adds up quick. I just hate the idea of not being prepared. I own a small set of jet drills, but I really don't like using them. I should note, that wouldn't really be a huge pile of jets. I organize them so I don't have to pick through when tuning. Takes up more space, but if you do much tuning it's worth the room to save the time.

thanks Brent. That's a lot of jets and rollers. Now I know how it's easier for you to tune your carbs. That's a serious collection you got there. How much all of those cost?

I've got them over time, but I'd guess better than 300 dollars in jets. Sliders are the other big investment. I've got 10-15 sets of sliders at around $20 each. The jets don't exactly go bad though, and sliders last a really long time usually, so once you have a nice collection you don't have to spend money very often on tuning stuff. Well, at least not till you decide to play with a different kind of scooter or something. The stuff I have covers my 2Ts, and the standard carbs for GY6 50-150 as well as rollers for the GY6 50.

I noticed yesterday that revs were a little higher than normal and the belt didn't seem to be gripping as well. I assumed the belt was getting worn, but decided to ignore it for one more quick ride this morning. Of course that was a bad idea.
While I was pushing I had some guy on a scooter come up and rev at me, then turn around and ride off. Never fails. Whenever I can't do anything about it someone wants to be a badass and whenever I wanna race no one will.

I just got done cleaning it up and putting it back together. All of this stuff has something like 1,000 miles on it and it's gone through a belt, a set of ramp plate guides, and the variator's aluminum guides are heavily worn. I think my wheelie practice is just bad news. It's fun, but I don't think I can afford the parts I'd go through if I keep it up regularly. The Venus used to wear the belt and vari and break guides when I wheelied it a lot too, so I was sorta expecting this. Sucks. I stuck it back together with no spacers in the vari this time. Did have 2mm worth. So now it's the Hoca vari and Hoca drive face as it would be setup out of the box. Looks like it should be capable of more speed, but I think it's gonna be a dog off the line. We'll see.

Terrible launch with no spacers in the vari. Might cruise just slightly faster at times, but not at all worth the horrible takeoff. If you get a Hoca vari and drive face, I would not suggest using them without spacers.

Do the drive lugs still engage well with 2mm of spacers?I seem to remember it was kinda maxed out in stock form..

Yeah. The Hoca has a shorter drive boss than stock. I like it, but I've used 1mm or more of spacers with it on every setup for best results and I always verify that the splines are able to work with the kick starter piece. Their fixed half pushes toward the movable half even farther the way it's machined, so it's really bad. I've had the Hoca and Stage 6 fixed halves and so far I like my modified stockers better than either.
