Found this listed on CL. The young guy just wanted to get rid of it because his roommate left owing him money, and told him to sell it. The story is that it was given to his roommate by his family, and he rode it for 1 summer, then he decided to soup it up and it seized shortly afterward, and its been sitting out back since then. The story checks out IMO because it has less than 3000 miles on it, and a HUGE technigas pipe that looks like it belongs on a 90cc! It did not come with the original papers, but I got a bill of sale, and the keys for it. He asked for $150.00, I offered $100.00 and he said ok. I gave him another $10.00 for helping me to load it in my van. It appears to have a standard 2T short engine, but I could be wrong. Someone pulled the head and cyl off at some point, so it was easy to tell the small and large end bearing were seized before I bought it. I am not worried though, I have a NEW short case 2T that just needs a decent cylinder kit for it and I am almost ready to go.

Sure the motor needs work, but you prob wanted to do motor work anyway at some point... so you got a Yamaha scoot with a pipe and it's the one with a big cooling fan and stout charging system all for $110. Sweet deal. If you don't fell like fooling with the current engine, there are 90cc short case ATV engines on eBay regularly.

You know I have always wanted a 90cc scooter But I think for now I will just pull out the new short case motor I have under the bench, and slap a 70 cc cyl kit on it. Since I need a pipe to, I was thinking about this one from Autotech355 Do you know if the V8 pipes are any good? Its a little pricy, but none of the stuff in the kit will go to waste. I think it would be a cheaper, and easier route than fixing the motor that came with it, at least for now.

I did not like the V8 pipe for 100cc... but then I had to cut it apart and reweld it just to make it fit. I may have got a dud? Looks like you have a decent pipe there unless you don't want the flashier and prob louder pipe.

Over the last few days, I have pulled the engine out and disassembled it for inspection. As you can see, the crank got really hot, and the piston/cyl is toast but everything else looks pretty good as far as the engine is concerned. I was planning to move some parts from the original engine, to a spare short case I had laying around in order to get this scooter on the road, but I ran into several issues that I did not know about. The Yamaha engine is different from a clone in several ways that I have noticed so far. The intake and reed cage is different. The Yamaha cage is larger, and slanted. The center stand will not work on the clone. There is nowhere to mount the spring on the clone. The rear wheel is too small to fit on the clone shaft. I guess it will be easier to just put a new crank, and cyl on the Yamaha engine to get it on the road. What I really want to do is roll the dice and pick up a 90cc ATV engine from ebay, but I just can't spend that kind of money ATM. From what I can tell, I should be able to use a clone crank and cylinder on the Yamaha engine with no problem.

I think 2strokd has said that the intake is specific to the Vino, not all of the Yamaha Minas.

I saw this crank for $49.00 and I just couldn't resist. Not many specs were listed, except that it was for a horizontal minarelli with a 12mm wrist pin. Only thing different from stock vino crank is 12mm wrist. And I have to get a new cyl set anyway. [/URL]
