I installed a new belt and variator fan in my CVT. The belt I put in is a Mitsoboshi 681x17.7x30. I got most of my speed back. With this belt I am going to try my 1k contra spring again (the 1k spring burned my Bando 669x18x30 belt). Picture of my GPS showing 43mph top speed. 43mph was for a brief time, so I will call my top speed 42mph. I also put an air scoop on the flywheel fan.

Here is a picture of the front of my scooter showing the mirror extenders, the mount for my GPS and PowerMadd hand guards that I installed. All of these were easy to install.

Watch for some of the vacuum plugs that are for 'test' purposes. They are for short term testing only and may come apart with long term exposure to heat and vapors. Some of the 'test' plugs come on plastic holders or ball chain etc to keep them organized. If I ever get my scoot running again I may get some of those mirror extenders. I see you use spot mirrors also If that helmet hook adhesive gives out you can get a more permanent auto body trim adhesive tape. Sometimes a couple of holes and pop-rivets are required.

I re-installed my 1k (blue) contra spring to see how it works with my new belt (681x17.7x30). on a test run, the variator didn't max out until 24mph. That's what I'm looking for, to keep the variator open longer so my engine gets itoit's powerband to accelerate easier once the variator reaches full travel.
I hope the 1k contra doesn't bun my new belt like it did a Bando 669x18x30.

So far, so good with the new belt and 1k contra. I'm not smelling the belt burning up and I'm getting full travel on the pulleys.
I have about 100 miles on the new belt with the 1k contra.

So now you are running the same belt as I am Dan? Bill Yes Bill. The Bando 669x18x30 seemed both too short and too wide. The underside of the belt was wider that the drive boss. The Mitsuboshi belt fit the drive boss and the 681 length allows full travel. That's why I re-installed the 1k contra spring. The variator doesn't fully open until 24mph, giving my engine more power to accelerate to faster speeds. also, when the variator fully opens there is no noticeable drop in RPM's or any engine bogging. Friday, I was riding in 20+mph wind and could still do 31 to 33mph into the wind (before, with the same wind I would only do 20mph).

The bottom of the belt should never touch the drive boss or hub, whatever you call it.

Friday, I was riding in 20+mph wind and could still do 31 to 33mph into the wind (before, with the same wind I would only do 20mph). Excellent...I am glad it works well for you. As I have posted on this site more than a few times, that is the belt that was on my scoot when I got it. The guy I got my scoot from had never had the cvt case opened in the 4,000 miles he put on it, so he didn't change belt sizes. The woman he got the scoot from put only 400 miles on it, she bought it new, but, I guess she could have had someone swap out the belt but I doubt it. It confused me for the longest time as everyone said the short case scoots use the "standard" size belt. I think maybe, for whatever reason, my scoot came with this size. The only drawback I see is that I have still not seen this size in Kevlar, or some other heavy duty material. No problem, I'll just have a spare Mitsuboshi belt with me at all times. It actually appears to be a well made belt and after seeing the info Brent posted about that company, I am no longer worried about it being just another cheap, Chinese belt. Bill

I put a smaller pilot jet in today. I had a #33 in it and it would stumble trying to rev from idle. Then I put a #35 pilot jet in and it was running real rich. I put what I believe is a #30 pilot jet (it has K30 stamped on the side). reset the idle and air/fuel mixture screw and all is well. no stumbling from an idle,it just takes off and accelerates lik a a bat out of Hell through the variator range to 27mpg and keeps accelerating.
1 more problem solved.

Yeah. I'm not a mechanic so it's trial and error to tune my scoot. I did learn a lot from the videos in the Tech Section. I can take my carb off, open it up, clean it, change jets, put it back together and put back on the scoot in about 30 minutes.
On the CVT, I can change a set of rollers and have it all back together in about 20 minutes.
All thanks to Brent and others that have threads in the Tech Section.
I love this forum!

I have a problem. The fuel petcock I bought was a piece of garbage, leaked and seems like it was not delivering enough fuel flow (the petcock is gravity, not vacuum).
The problem I have is that I am trying to find a petcock that mounts to my tank (16mm thread on tank). The one I am looking for doesn't have a shut off valve, I have an inline shut off valve. I just need the petcock to mount to my tank with 1 barb for the fuel line.
