'02 E-ton Beamer: No spark Parts are hard to get Got a new CDI and bought a stator but it didn't fit so I traded out the pickup coil. Installed both. Still no spark. I have to dig out my ohm meter to check my wires but I'm not sure what I'm looking for on this stator harness. I'm familiar with the two wires that are usually separate from the plug (pickup and voltage to cdi). This harness has only the pickup coil wire that is separate. I'm going to (try) to include pictures. Question: Which wire is voltage to the cdi?

The Eton had a dc cdi needs a good battery to have spark.

The trigger fires the cdi but all power for it comes from the battery not the stator

The worst part is that I bought have a brand new one that I was waiting to put in. I know about the cdi being DC but would never had thought that it would rely on the battery! Thanks moofus, I appreciate the help. I'll go try that tomorrow.

Yes when I got mine it wouldn't run till I put in a bat then I spent a day chasing wires trying to figure out why the electric starter didn't work only to discover I had to apply the brake lol

And this whole battery thing reminds me of the few scooters that I've run across that have a kill switch in the kick stand... I'm glad that I asked this question before I tore the whole thing apart trying to track down faulty wires. So when I say, "I appreciate the help", I really mean it! Thanks again moofus. Cheers

It will kick start without the brake just need the brake too send power to the starter lol. My father in law had my Eton for 2 years before I got it. 4 years old 100 miles when he got it I cleaned the carb and petcock for him and figured out the brake thing. When he died it sat for 2 years and I went through what you are doing put in New battery and it fired rite up

You're a freakin life saver moofus! That did the trick! I don't think that I would have ever put the battery in it. I would have went round and round hunting down 'faulty' wires, never finding it. I just can't think of a scenario where I would have put the battery in and found out it had spark... I would have kept looking for voltage to the cdi from the stator, not finding it and thinking that I had a bad stator. Sooner or later I suppose I would have figured it out, but what a lot of crud I would have went through! So, again, Thanks a lot moofus! Cheers

Hey don't know if it has been done but those etons have a Rev limiter built into the cdi. Pull the cdi out of the rubber holder and on the back side there will be a green wire loop coming out of and going back into the epoxy under that rubber mounting band. Cut that loop if it hasn't been done already and you will be good for all the rpms you want lol

The original cdi that was in it had the wire and it was cut. The new cdi has, I believe, three wires. I didn't cut any of them. I was actually going put the old cdi back in and keep the new one as a spare. I'll post a picture of the new one when I go back over to work some more on the bike. Thanks moofus. Cheers
