hey guys. here are some pictures of my scoot. needed a winter project so i figured what the hell, its something to do. next thing i know i have a $35.00 custom paintjob. got er all nekkid! started by sanding it down with 800gt up to 3,000 grit. i plastic welded the cracked rocker panel from where it fell over in the garage. taped off the vent where i wanted it to stay silver. sprayed them, then wet sanded. this is about 10 seconds after laying down the first coat of clear. the piece on the left is wet sanded ready for the next shot of red. stock piece vs my piece. no more project pics as i didnt originally plan to make a project thread. these were pics for myself to document my first paint job. and here is how it turned out in the end.... pic of the scoot stock. now. i also installed a stereo with left over audio install stuff i had lying around. it can be seen in my walkaround video below. plans for the future cosmetically include better headlights that fit in the stock holes, fix that damned hanging turn signal, and deleting the mud flap area and relocating the rear turn signals. hope you guys like it, i know i sure do! if anyone was interested, the paint is gm dark cherry metallic and honda nighthawk black pearl.

I'm impressed! That does not look like a first paint job. I wish my LAST paint job looked like that. Nice stereo too. I had one on a scoot for awhile. Made long rides more enjoyable.

thanks guys. and one of those clones is being sold soon. found one with 80k less miles a sunroof heated seats and the premium 10 speaker setup and couldnt pass it up.
just got done swapping my extensive list of mods from one to the other. they include an amp/sub, my pioneer touch screen radio, LED tailgate strip under the tail lights, HID lights, air horns, external waterproof speakers for drive in movie purposes, hardwired radar detector, and last but not least a cobra 29 lx ltd cb radio with my wilson 1000 6' whip. used to have a 4' whip. ive found myself looking at clearance stickers at drive thrus now, as its now 10' 2" from the ground. lol.
once i sell the car, i want to get the new one painted black and then add the supercharger and top end from an impala ss or regal gs etc. after all thats done, i plan on buying a few more parts for the scoot. looking into gearing it up some at the moment.
little side note: apparently the stock stator isnt enough to cope with the stereo. (new replacement, too.) after a few rides, the battery gets too low to crank over the higher compression engine. for a temp fix since i have no electric in my shed, i took the connectors off of my power inverter hooked them to the battery terminals, and when im done riding, i take out the battery and plug it into my cars cig lighter. (optima yellow top in the car is great for such aplications!) tried to order an aftermarket high output jobber, but i couldnt find one. ontop of that, jeremy over at enviromoto said he hasnt even seen a stator with my connector. had to source one from ebay.
right now its got a duralast gold 180cca motorcycle battery in it. so it lasts longer than the stock one at least.

Maybe you could get a solar charger routed to a window or outside of the shed?
For me, with an 8 coil stator, 1-1.5A the max I can draw and have the battery fully charged after a ride. You could try turning the stereo off for the last few miles or turning the volume down to use less power.
TVnACMan sells the parts to convert to a larger stator and a DC system and he provides support during the process.

That really looks good! Not all good paint jobs have to cost a fortune.

Nice work on the paint! I've tried but I can't paint to my own satisfaction so I let a shop do it. It's a hell of a lot better than my failed attempt but still not 100 percent to my liking. Good job!

another reason i DIY'd it is because the girlfriend is learning to ride. i figure shes gonna drop it at least once. lol
