Hi everyone! I recently purchased an smc rexy (Yamaha axis clone). I cleaned the carb but it has still been acting funny. It dies when the bike is tilted to the right. It idles perfectly when it is cold but will will die when its warm if I don't hold throttle partially open. I ran a compression test on it today and it was in the 125psi range (throttle was wide open and I used the kick starter.) This seems kind of low to me what do you guys think??
Thanks Tim

Oh and I forgot to mention that is has an unidentifiable big . Maybe Chinese? The carb is a keihin PE and I believe it is a 24mm but I'm not certain. Would anyone know some baseline settings for that carb with a sport bore?

125psi is on the low side for a strong engine, but it shouldn't die out because of that. I would check the float height since it cuts out when you lean it.

Does 125 mean that it is time for a new piston and cylinder? I will adjust the float height on Friday and let you know if that helps.
Thanks, Tim

125psi may mean you're getting close to it needing rings or other work or it may mean a head gasket or spark plug threads are leaking or it may mean you have too much squish clearance/combustion chamber volume or it may mean the tester isn't sealing or any combination of the above.
