They do look better without. Does spray water and mud everywhere though if you take it off.

I have the same exact rear setup as your Vento. What do I need to do to remove the rear mud flap?

The wing and rear panels have to come off. Tail light has to come off. I can't remember if you have to remove the fuel tank or not now. It's been years since I did the Tritons. Eventually you'll get to where the mudguard can be unbolted and removed. On mine the tail light can still bolt to the frame the same way, just without the mudguard behind it. The turn signals have to be relocated or replaced. I've done a few different things with mine over the years. The link shows relocation with simple L brackets. 49ccscoot.proboards.com/thread/388/rear-turn-signal-relocationLEDs under the tail/brake. These have teh mounting "bolts" perpendicular out the back. IIRC I did weld on to extend the stock bracket though and get them positioned as I wanted them. Not sure if these exact ones would fit, but there are plenty of LEDs that could mount there with the fairings still on. This is an aluminum plate with a truck LED as the brake/tail. My favorite setup so far. Very bright and tough. I extended the frame so it's easy to swap, but it could be made to fit under the fairings. Here's an aluminum plate with LED lights in it I've got on T1 now. Lots of options to do something different on the back.

I pretty sure the mudflap is just held on via 10mm bolts and nuts, maybe even 8mm? I rode this winter (and it wasn't allot due to very cold) for the first time without the tire hugger fender and the "drip trey" under my fuel and oil tank. I was pretty surprised my engine was not dirtier and corroded from the stuff they put on the roads for ice and snow. It cleaned up well I do still run the outside fender, were the plate goes. Without anything at all some scoots throw water right onto your backside... Or worse, right over your back onto your face and chest.

I like the look without the big mudflap. What I am looking for is a rear fender that comes down lower in the back to cover more of the tire. That way I figure I won't get splashed.

You need a fender like this to keep that UNI dry, rode in a downpour Tuesday and had no problems

Lots of dirt roads where I live and I need the rear fender to keep all the mud and stuff off the engine. My Kaliber LS 2t doesn't have a rear fender (only the back flap) and I get all kinds of crud on that engine.
My DongFang has rear fender like Trolls in the pic above, but I want one that wraps around lower on the back of the tire so I can remove the mud flap.

like Dan, i too hit lots of dirt roads. my tirehugger dont go down in the front as far so my engine ends up with some mud one the back and bottom of the engine but not too bad.
