A country Boy can survive...lol. Got a 'new Scoot' for some work I did for a guy that is a dealer for them. It is a 2008 Jonway Sunny. It has been sitting untouched in his warehouse because it would run correctly out of the crate...so he was gonna use it as a parts bike..but left it sitting there. Found out it was ok..just had a bent and burned valve due to the flyhweel timing marks being stamped WAY off! New valves ground..lapped and installed an it purrs like a Kitten! But even with the original MCO Michigan DMV won't let me register it because they say being 6 years old and never being registered it is not considered 'new' and will cost me $500.00 for a Surety Bond to make sure it is not stolen..when all they gotta do is run the VIN..but they won't.. Then I have to pay the State Police to do a safety check on it and verify the VIN. So it will cost me over $500.00 to register a 'new' with MCO Scoot I got from a licensed dealer?? This is pure Bullsh!t.. Anyway it is for my Girlfriend and when I asked what color she wanted it as some of the body panels had faded..she said John Deer theme.. It is almost done and I will post pics of the completed project. Right now the paint is drying enough so I can clear coat and rub it out. Here is pic she took that she uses as her Facebook homepage pic.. We can't wait to see the look when folks say.. "John Deere made Scooters too??" She is gonna tell them yes..custom order only..you have to go to the factory in Moline,Illinois.. We got the factory color paint and decals at a Farm and Tractor supply company... This is gonna rock..IF!! The DMV pulls their heads outta their @sses..since there is NO LAW about what they kept telling us regarding the age of a Scoot etc.. Glenn

Aahhhhh theres the John Deere!
yeah theres an office with a friendly in it that'll push a pen for ya, i agree with the other thoughts on that! i had to jump through hoops with an old bike years back ended up with a single page printed out and signed by the sheriff dept stating that the bike was clean and they pushed it right through.
good luck!

Attach a tiny plow and register it as farm equipment.
The 'dealer' should know how to get it registered. It has been in his possession and on his books for a long time. Even if he wrote it off as salvage you should be able to get a salvage title.

Even if he wrote it off as salvage you should be able to get a salvage title. Working on that now with him. He never wrote it off the books..he just kept it and was going to use it as a 'parts bike' but never did.. $500.00 is a Surety Fee that the insurance company keeps in case the Scoot is found to be stolen. That way the state can be reassured that actual owner of it is paid back for the loss. Bottom line..it is money that they..the insurance company and state get free to keep for themselves..because a scoot with an MCO and never been registered..Bill of sale from the company..original keys etc...is NOT stolen.. A way to dig into our pockets as usual.. Because it is 6 years old and never been registered..still has the original MCO.. it is assumed stolen to them. I mean after all..a new 2014 Scoot could never possibly be a stolen one huh? Thieves must have a Statue of Limitations and only steal scoots older than 6 years..

Got it registered today!! DMV gave me a run around..so I got the main Office in Lansing on the Cell Phone as we stood there in line..AGAIN.. Had them speak with them and got it right. The office locally was following an outdated directive removed from the books years ago...and even then it ONLY covered Scooters with NO MCO that have never been registered. I have the MCO and it has the VIN..plus the receipt has the VIN and that is all the State needed since it did not show up up under their list of reported missing vehicles VIN numbers. Now how is it that you can do a job for the public..when you don't even know the rules of the job you are doing??. Anyway now..back out to finish painting after my fun lil test ride.. These 'cheapie' Ebay 4 T pipes sound so kewl..and possibly a tiny power gain. Regardless a John Deere theme decked out Scoot not only sounds kewl..but it looks and sounds John Deere even... So stick it DMV...we ridin' now!! Just gotta finish the paint job..

Glad you get the DMV straight.
Having not seen the scooter part of me is hoping you did a fat tire conversion and used chevron tread back there.

I have spotted a 235/50R17 outside..... Or a 255/50R16.... Or a 255/75R16.... Or if you like tall a 235/85R16.... The possibilities are endless!

Glad you get the DMV straight. Having not seen the scooter part of me is hoping you did a fat tire conversion and used chevron tread back there. Still the stock tires and rims..but we do want a bit taller and wider.. So I gotta find out what will fit a 139QMB shortcase with 10 inch rims.. It has 3.50-10 right now..
