Im in the process of rejetting my sr50 so i get more performance from a gianelli next pipe, 6.5g rollers and de restricted air box (removed tube and elbow) Today i replaced the OE 74 main jet with a 82 and fitted the derestricted air box on the scooter and turned the air/fuel mixture screw 1-1/2 turns max. Now it bogs up to the 20 and then it takes off but other times it wont even rev past 25 mph.
If i plug the whole left by the removing of the air box tube and elbow the scooter wont even start but if i remove the plug it starts right up. Because of the bog i dont think im getting accurate plug readings after each test ride since each test ride has been accompanied by with the engine bogging pretty bad. So i dont really know if ive made too large a jump from a 74 to a 82 main jet or if the air/fuel mixture is even close. Thanks in advance for the help.

I jumped to an 85 and derestricted my airbox. However i have a big bore kit. So if yours is still the stock 50, that jet may be too big. I pulled a 79 out of my stock carb if that helps.

I'm running an 85 main jet with stock 49cc motor (no BBK). I have my (derestricted) airbox modded with extra holes for airflow. Try taking the cover off your airbox (keep the filter on ) and taking a few test runs... my scoot likes lots of fuel and lots of air.

I for got to mention that the plug isnt fouling at all when the engine bogs.Since it idles and the bog is up to HOT and then the main jet kicks in i think its a blocked or dirty starter jet. I had the airbox off and a rag stuffed in the carb for a few days or I might have have clogged it while handling the carb during the main jet install. Im going to give a cleaning and install a 80 main jet today. Wish me luck
