My wife has a 2017 SR50 Aprilia . I want to get it moving a little faster, no high performance , just a little bit faster . My searchs haven't really come up with much info . There seems to be confusion in the Aprilia world of what restrictions this 2017 model has from the factory . Does anyone know if there is anything that can be done to derestrict this Scooter ?

My 2006 yellow aerox ( aftermarket exhaust , variator kit ) absolutely thrashes my wifes 2017 SR50 . I'm actually surprised and a bit disappointed with the speed of the Aprilia . It must be restricted . If anyone has knowledge of how to derestrict it please tell me . She doesnt want to mod it with exhaust etc , but there must be something I can do to it . Ken

How much longer until you have er blastin around the neighborhood? I'm a Rookie at this , so as a seasoned veteran you will know that for every obvious developmental addition there are 99 unseen little jobs to complete . Buttttttttt.......... My my goal all along has been to hear it fire before Christmas . Not be Blasting through the streets but at least running . My long term Goal is to be fully functional by June 2018 because there is a local motorcycle show here that I have visited every year and I would love to enter it with the General . I can tell you right now there has never been an entry like him so it might get tongues wagging and heads shaking . Ken

Those Vespa's you play with get me sweating like a bag of Cat's at a Greyhound meet .
The problem is I can't afford to dive into that world at the moment so I'm living my dream world through you .

I haven't posted any developments lately , but that doesn't mean that nothing has happened . I've been busy doing many small little tasks that are impossible to see with the naked eye , but are necessary to complete . I have never done any engine work before and General Grievous's motor has been something I've been putting off and pretending didn't exist . My plan is to get a working motor that will get the General Blasting around the streets and then over the next year build up my spare engine with some more performance in mind . I finally got around to swapping the cast Malossi 70cc Cylinder and Head that came with the original Scooter onto my standard user cases , mounted the Carb and I made a gravity feed fuel petcock replacing the vacumm system . I'm very happy with my achievement in regards to the motor and it sure has been a learning curve , youtube is a saviour . At the moment I'm not concerned with the layout of hoses and cables etc , I'm just trying to get it to a point where it will fire up . Wiring is the next hurdle that I'm dreading , but I think I have someone with a huge amount of knowledge to call on locally here and has said he will help . Cylinder Piston and Head before installation . Motor back in one piece . Ken

Thanks for the responses and I dont want to hijack this excellent thread , but The Aerox must use a different tupe of fuel petcock - outlet from the plastic tank . it isnt a screw on piece but a push on then clamp arrangement that seals with an O ring . I want to eliminate the vacuum delivery and go to just gravity . Ken

Did the Jog originally have a vacuum petcock ? If so how did you alter it to gravity feed ?
Im trying to find a petcock for my Aerox build to convert it to gravity and Im not having any luck .

Can I ask a question . Somewhere in one of your posts I think I remember you mentioning that you changed the color of your headlight by painting or coating the lens . Am I correct or am I going crazy I have a headlight unit that has little LED lights either side that I was hoping to use as turn signals , but the light that they emit is white and here in Australia turn signals have to be Amber in color . Do you , or anyone else know if I can coat the lenses of these LED's so the light that they give off is Amber or close to it . Thanks Ken

I'm trying to find a mirror for my Scooter build but I'm really struggling to find what I want . I have seen on some Cafe Racer builds a small round mirror that is postioned under the handle bar . It is not a bar end mirror , the mount is postioned inside of the grip and brake master cylinder etc . It is probably absolutely usless as a mirror but it does satisfy the authorities requirements . Any ideas or links would be greatly appreciated .

Update - I've been busy doing family stuff the last few weekends so its been quiet on the build , but I got home from my week away at work yesterday and cracked into General Grievous . First on the list was foot pegs . I wanted something simple that I can change in the future if I want to . I must admit it wasnt my idea , I saw it on a home made minibike a mate made years ago for his young son . Old handlebars reconstituted into foot pegs . I have some rubber coming to complete them . Next is mounting the front plastic . I've been waiting on some brackets and they finally arrived . I have mounted the fairing / headlight onto the handlebars so that they move with the handlebars instead of the usual fixed to the frame solid Scooter type arrangement . Here are a couple of pics I took with my wife sitting on the General while I was trying to find the correct angle to mount it so that the headlights are at the correct elevation with the weight of someone sitting on it . Ken That's looking really nice. I cannot wait to see the rest of plastics on. Great work! There is no more plastic to go on , what you see is what you get . I have a plan that will tidy up all the wiring and cables . The plan from the beginning was a half naked build and hopefully thats what I'll end up with . Ken
