How do i get spark. I ordered a 49cc 2 stroke engine off of ebay about three weeks ago. Since then i have spent hours upon hours trying to get it to spark with no luck. I can't seem to find anybody that know how to hook up the two wires from the ignition coil, red and black. The motor just has a magneto and flywheel but i don't understand how to get it working, the coil might be bad but i just replaced it yesterday thinking the other one was bad, so I'm pretty sure its fine. The motor does have electric start and i already know how to get that going. As for the ignition i don't know where the two wires go, what ground's i need to make on the whole scooter and do i need a cdi or not? s1370.photobucket.com/user/aristotle19/media/IMG_0516_zps2f7482be.jpg.html?sort=3&o=0

It's been a long time since I've messed with one of those engines so I'm trying to remember where wires went. Those engines should be magnetos more like a weed trimmer or chainsaw, and don't use a CDI. The only wire other than e-start wires (large... maybe 10AWG... coming from under the pull starter) was 1 wire on the magneto/coil that went to a kill switch. If it was unhooked though, the engine would run... you just couldn't shut it off. Try checking the gap between the flywheel and magneto/coil. Something like 0.010-0.030" would prob be good. Might wanna try asking at pocketbikeplanet forums. Not sure how it is now, but there used to be a bunch of people with midbikes there that used these engines.

My bad. I didn't look at the pic and assumed we were talking about a scooter motor.

My bad. I didn't look at the pic and assumed we were talking about a scooter motor. I did the same thing.

If it's anything like my old outboard, I had to occasionaly clean the magneto (sensor?)and flywheel with sandpaper...
