Hi Elektrey I can confirm that your 8 pole stator is stock as I've got the same scooter and mine has a 8 pole stator to. By the way I've enjoyed reading your thread. Cheers Pete

Must of been what they used before and switched mfg's and went with a 4 pole but I'm guessing the 4 works just as good as an 8 unless the phasing is different like 190 said!!!

Hi Elektrey I can confirm that your 8 pole stator is stock as I've got the same scooter and mine has a 8 pole stator to. By the way I've enjoyed reading your thread. Cheers Pete Thanks Pete! You should post a build thread about your R50x! I would love seeing another TGB on this site. Must of been what they used before and switched mfg's and went with a 4 pole but I'm guessing the 4 works just as good as an 8 unless the phasing is different like 190 said!!! well the stator defect tech bulletin shows the new mfg's stator being 8 pole also. Maybe they switched some time after that? It's a gamble of $9.00 shipping + maybe $5 return shipping + $5 restocking fee to try that 4 pole stator... I was hoping to confirm if the 4 pole stator kind uses the same flywheel... if it does, then I don't see how there could be phasing issues. Jwhood, does your 101/Key west use the 4 pole stator? Would it be too much to have you compare flywheels between the two bikes? If both the 8 pole and 4 pole stators are paired to the same exact flywheel and provided mounting for the stators and pickup coil are the same (which it should be, the engine cases are identical no matter what 50cc TGB it is) then the 4 pole stator should work no problem. On another note TGBscooters.us replied and said they just started importing 2015 model scooters and aren't aware of any recall and told me to contact TGB Taiwan. Problem is, there isn't an email for TGB Taiwan and there "contact" page is setup for importers/distributors. I asked if they had an email for them. They've got a phone number on there website however but a) long distance and b) probably chinese (?)

It appears from the manual that the 4 pole flywheel uses a different rotor: different key location and different magnet location but no pics of the magnet

I asked harry if the part he quoted me was a 4 pole or 8 pole.
So it looks like TGB doesn't even carry the 8 pole stators in stock for parts anymore. He could be write about his first sentence.

How much is tgb asking for a new stator?

he said $110 plus shipping and he actually sells it on his site for like $115 IIRC.
It's the 4 pole stator though so you may as well get the $31 one from chinesemotorcycleparts or whatever that site was, it's the same thing I'm betting.
I figure worst case scenario the 4 pole doesn't work and I'll have to order a new flywheel from him right? the flywheel he sells must match the stator he sells. and because of the engine casing being the same, the flywheel will no doubt fit.

Yeah with my new malossi crank I had too shim my crank so flywheel would fit snug,I'm wondering if the flywheel cover for the 4 pole will fit with no shim keep me posted!!! Haven't had no time for the scooter I've been swamped with work I run a landscape business so last week it rained every day so now I'm playing catch up!!
