Do whatever you feel is necessary to do the job right. I like having engines out and the effort to remove it is worth it to me. Others find that to be a waste of time and say it's fine in the scooter. The right answer is whatever works for you and the particular scooter.

Oh don't worry, dropping the engine is my only option as far as I'm concerned. I've already pulled it onto the patio and am eyeballing what I need to do. Mentally preparing myself for it. This way I can work on it late if need be and I can just drop it back in tomorrow morning and start tuning. Maybe if I get used to tuning this one with the stock airbox, it will encourage me to do the VX that way too lol.

Hey 90GTVert, like my new coffee table centerpiece? In light of taking a break from the VX50, I've decided to yank this puppy out and start on her. She's getting a BBK, A9cam, another valve adjustment AND I'll see if there's any restrictions I can get rid of. I also will look into capping off this PAIR system. It's annoying, like having a damn squid hang in the engine.

You go Jhobe!
I'm sure you'll do just fine! I always keep one of Brent's "How to's" open and read and follow along step-by-step. (I did my first 2t bbk, 90cc atv swap, and 4t bbk like this- huge help!) I'm sure everything will go smoothly!

That's part of the reason why I figured doing it in here would be best. The laptop will be close by. Better than running in and out of the house and my neighbors thinking "Does he even know what he's doing?!?!" Though now I have an scoot with no ass end sitting on my patio for all to see on jack stands. I can hear the banjo's now...

Looks like a lot of light colored furniture/carpet. If you're as messy as I can be, you better be real careful if you don't want a calico living room.

Not a good combo for inside mechanics. It's ok. The mess is being kept local to the table. I'm almost done. Just double checking some stuff to your post. She's almost ready to put back in. I'm taking as many pics as possible but I don't think I'll post as many as I did with the VX BBK install.

Well, she fires up and runs. I put a #95 jet in it, it had a #78. Just in time for the mosquitoes to come out and hassle me. It's dark out so no pics of the final. My only question is... Is this cam supposed to be that damn loud? It sounds like what Clank had when his was running. I noticed it when I was putting it together. I put the rocker arm assembly back on and after I tightened it down and adjusted the valves (.002") then I rotated the engine by the fan and noticed there was like a delay or a click like there was a gap between hitting one of the valves. Not both, just one. Did I put the cam in wrong? You tell me. I did it with the "A9" at TDC. Here's what the old piston looked like. Side by side. so you tell me? I mean, it runs fine. Revs up and idles nice. I'm tempted to take it for a spin but I'm afraid if the cam is supposed to not be that noisy if I'm damaging it now. I dunno, I may throw the stock cam back in. And no it shouldn't be an exhaust leak. I cleaned both ports and threw some ultra copper around it and let it sit for a bit before I fired it up. I went under the scoot to listen and it doesn't sound like it's coming from the exhaust. I'll see if I can make a quick video.

Did you put an exhaust gasket in it? I tried staight copper rtv and it blew out when I got on it. There should be a another hole facing forward on the cam

One more thing I was gonna tell you jhobe6678 was place you're ring gaps at 120° from one another. And don't have your ring gaps directly up and down. There's more oil on the bottom of a horizontal engine making easier to get by. But it's too late for that now.

There should be a another hole facing forward on the cam There was no gasket to begin with, if there was well it disintegrated lol. I have some gaskets from my 2t that I checked and they would fit but would be thin along the sides. I seriously am thinking though it's not an exhaust leak. I just need to see if Clank is fukin with me now.
