thanks guys. in the past in 2 cases out of 100 the scoot wouldn't start, even with the kick starter. So what i need to do is remove the seat unit and close with 2 fingers 2/3 of the intake snorkel of the air box and then it would start with one single kick. As said very rare to happen but it does sometimes. After looking at the spark plug yesterday and the starting problems from time to time i thought i might run a bit too lean and therefore my thought about the main jet. Today on the way to work again my bike seems to have trouble. (weather: cold, a bit humid, but dry conditions) I lost the nice takeoff power that i got from the new torque spring, remember the loosing front wheel traction situation? GONE! The only thing left to do is to take everything apart again and look what is going on. When the new OR Variator comes i will do the following things; - Change the Variator to the new OR one - Sand the clutch pads again - check, clean the carb and put in a 70 main jet. - check the air box for cracks or damage - check the air filter Is there anything else that i should check or clean?

Readjust your idle mixture and maybe set it richer than you think it needs to be. Might help the starting situation. You may also want to make sure the auto enricher is working.

The intermitten problems are hard to catch sometimes tho... So make sure to try and be patient with it.

Went shopping today (glue, handle grip, Kitaco main jet #72) I only wanted to buy the main jet.... but I couldn't resist and bought new handle grip (is that what they are called?) This is the main jet #72 they didn't had #70. If that fails i will have to order a #70. I thought, since i will get the OR Variator it is maybe OK to use a #72 instead of the #70. *fingerscrossed*

Correct. They are called handlebar grips. Some people simply say "grips" for short/slang.

The 68 is really small- as small of a jet as I would ever run- I would jump up to 70 at least! Let us know how you like that OR! Some bikes have a really small carb that can require a smaller jet or an airbox with a smaller snorkel that can require a smaller jet than normal. Just a thought Moofus is correct- I think i stated this too 'matter-of-factly' lol. I think the 72 will probably be an improvement- but as we all have learned here everyone's setup is different! It's a good idea to have a range of jets to tune with...

birdmanありがとう!助かりました。 Thanks! I wanted to buy a main jet "set" but the smallest jet size in a set was #75. A bit too big right? The store guy told me to try the 72 first and see if the scoot bogs or not and also remove the spark plug after driving and see how that looks. He also said that newer yamaha scooters are always set to drive lean in stock version. The older ones used to have a #70 main jet stock. I will install the jet over the weekend and do some testing.

If that has a really small snorkel you could probably remove the snorkel and use bigger jets. Oldgeek or oldsman ran into that on something if i remember correctly Sent from my SPH-L720 using proboards

Military base? Okinawa? Yokohama? Anime? Video Games? Manga? He probably eats at a lot of Japanese restaurants. At my work, we deal with the Japanese a lot. Though I don't interact with them, I sometimes try to learn some phrases and greetings. I learned really quick you don't shake hands, you bow and look down. I also learned that when we get Japanese visitors, they love leaving gifts. Especially odd little cakes and snacks. I like cakes and snacks.

Yeah that's pretty accurate. They pretend to be cold and strict but inside they are very childish and funny people. I went to drink often with them and they behave totally different once they get a bit loose. When i meet new people and offer my hand to shake they get so exited. Imagine a simple gesture like a handshake can break the ice. Yeah their cakes and little presents are awesome. I also like those very much.

We had a guy visiting us for two weeks of training with one of the systems I built. I worked with him a lot. He was also a smoker like myself. We would go on smoke breaks and talk about where we grew up and all. When he left, he got every person he interacted with a gift. He gave me a pack of Japanese cigarettes. I thought that was cool as hell and I didn't open them. Till my cousin came over and ripped them open on me. *sigh* Bastard. At that point I wished he left me some cool sword or something so I can slap my cousin upside the head with it hahaha.

your cousin -> just tell me what cigarettes they where and i'll send them over to you. Mild Seven? (New Name is Mobius) Seven Star? Caster? These 3 Brands are the most used ones here. Ontopic -> got my #72 main jet installed....will test drive the scoot in the coming week and tomorrow i'll get the OR Variator. Can't wait to install that and see how it goes. Changed also my handle grips kinda rubber type grips. Not so slippery like the old ones. Need to buy some matching handle ends to close the holes at the end. Will post pictures of everything ones i get the Variator. To be continue...

Just fixed the goof I made on my BBK install. Had the cam in backwards. Whoops. It's all good and running fine now. As for the cigs, I haven't a clue? I think it was a silver and blue pack if I remember? It was at least 7 years ago.
