I'm with 90GTVert on this, sounds like you need a up-gear kit or maybe a over range variator kit(no idea whats available for your scoot). Check your ratio(mark the clutch bell and count the number of spins to get the wheel to rotate once). 55kph(34.9mph) sounds a bit low to me for 8500-9000rpm. I cruse that speed at 8000rpm with my current set up. Granted we got different sized wheels(12" on mine), cvt set ups (small over range combo on mine) and gear ratios most likely, mine is 12.5:1 (most say 11:1 is optimal). My average flat ground top speed is 46mph(74kph) with rpms at 9200-9400 rpm. Only time I've seen 10,000rpm on the current set up was drafting a moving truck on a long downhill stretch, hit 64mph(103kph)@10,250rpm(my all time scoot record). 64mph? I get about 43mph at 8,200rpm. 12" tires, 13.5:1 ratio and a Hoca Variator. Though I've been having some ideas on an OR mod lately. I should speak to 90GTVert about this.

Yep, 64mph GPSed. Surprised me that I was able to hit that speed. I'm very sure it was only because of the optimal drafting situation. Usually I can only hit 55mph downhill on a good day. Seems that wind resistance wins at that speed for me. If I got the largest up-gear kit (+18%) my theoretical limit would be 74mph@10,250rpm. Maybe some day after I go bbk.

Clutch spins 15 and 3/4 times per 1 wheel revolution? If that means a 15.75:1 ratio it does not seem right when i use the calculator here. How could this be stock?

Well so much for faith in mechanics - had my rear pulley replaced to get rid of a vibration only to get a new one at higher speeds. I was told it was the gears and would be expensive but i have had doubts from day one, thats why i got the tach installed. After seeing that my rev range was not right i have gone over the scoot myself and bingo - i cleaned thoroughly the torque driver and regreased and what do you know, i am hitting 75kph on the flats @ 9700rpm, cruising alonng nicely at 65kph @9000 rpm and going up moderate hills 55kph @ 8000rpm. The new tyre will drop those figures again hopefully but i can not believe the difference this has made - i went from hating this scoot and wanting it gone to loving it.

Just triple checked and it is actually 14.75 turns, i know my speedo is fairly close as i have done a gps check before at 60kph - which is all i used to get really.

If it stops right on 9000RPM most likely you have a restricted CDI. Some have to be replaced, others have a wire that can be cut to remove the restriction.

Yeah it stops dead on 9000rpm. I will have to find out what it looks like or find out which wire it is
