Well I got this bad boy two weeks ago it had 9500miles on it with an apparent new motor, ocean front property in Arizona too. Well today I was diagnosing two problems an issue with running on initial startup and a rattling noise in the gear case. After starting to look I found lots of stuff I wasn't happy with and decided to start my build thread that way I could get help without having a dozen different posts. This is how she looked when I got her. Now she is mat black, didn't realize I didn't have new pics till it was in the kitchen in a bunch of pieces. With gold forks and rims Well the first thing I noticed during my work was a lot of oil around the fan shroud the bolts were full of oil when removed. Then I noticed the exhaust wasn't exactly flush against the head. This is what was holding it in. Iam now while all of this is apart am removing the oil injection if anyone knows where the video is on that please post it below don't wanna miss a step. But this is where we are so far.

OOPS!Ya better pull that cylinder and see if something broke..Could have been something that got thru the carb, but ya gotta look..May be part of a ring or upper rod bearing..

I'm guessing at least a new piston and rings.. Won't know for sure until you pull the top end off

Heck!Pull that cylinder off and see whats loose, the engine is certainly repairable, likely for not much $$..

That's what I'm hoping that it's gonna be affordable if rather not pull a crank out. Things get a little more complicated down there.

Here's the wrist pin bearing And what's left of the bottom of the piston. Can someone tell me how this happened.

Its likely a 10mm pin bearing, theyre a bit weaker than a 12mm pin..Looks like a 70cc kit also by the o-ringed head, installing a more powerful topend on an old bearing causes that sort of failure also. You can try washing out the bottom end real well and installing a piston kit,but the best way is tear it down and clean it...

I measured the wrist pin and it came out to around a 1/2 inch which would make it a 12mm wrist pin correct? Then my next question is how do I know what size small end bearing I need? How do I make sure it's a 70cc piston so I don't order a 50cc and end up with a ton of gap in the cylinder walls?

I believe the head is a 70cc but I'm not sure if the piston is as well.

Get yourself a Harbor Freight digital caliper and take measurements..A 70cc will be 47 to 48mm.Any 12mm pin bearing for a Minarelli should fit.Measure the connecting rod small end ID and thats the OD fo your pin bearing..Does the rod big end bearing feel snug and smooth still??

Big end bearing feels fine, nice and tight still smooth still gonna have to break the case down though I think . I have a 49cc piston from a 4 stroke and this piston is much larger than it but it's probably one of those funny in between sizes. Would it be easiest to just order a new top end kit the cylinder wall took a nice groove nothing insane but not pretty
