Y'all, they have been banning all sorts of 2T power equipment for years. You should have known it would hit scoots eventually. The EPA usually grandfathers stuff for a specific number of years but whenever a new design or a new type is produced it has to be 4T.

What was replied by someone i talk with that works with Kymcos. "For sure there are no 2t in the USA with carburetors. only the Ditech will be imported 2015. I'm not surprised that the Chinese bikes got screwd like that, and it's really a good thing. If they are saving money by making fake emissions reports then they should be fined out of business." Genuine Scooter Company and Sym still imports 2Ts here in the us

I was reading something today which really is the end of two strokes in the future. Two new Euro emissions coming in in the future. One will have to meet new emissions regs after covering 30,000KM!

If you want to talk about harmful to the enviorment... Look up the process of making a battery for a hybrid car.... Nickle mining... acid rain, and all kinds of gnarly irreversible damage to the enviorment, worst part is hybrid batts go bad every 100,000 miles or so. So before the fugly chevy volt or prius or nissan leaf even hit the streets, it did more damage than 1000 drag raced out johnways will ever do in thier service life.

They should have bigger things to be concerned about

Birdman, i hope the Tao Tao you get is better than the Jonway i just test drove. it is a 2015 and has DRUM brakes on the front, steering bearings worn out, no power and seat bucket breaking on a 180lb rider.
thought the owner was kidding me about the MY, but i looked for myself, yep, it was a 2015

Disappointing to see these barriers on one of the most effient modes of transport.
I'm glad i don't have this problem in my country. Scoots get one inspection when first imported, then it's a simple $50 online payment every 3 months to keep it legal.
Scooter accidents are so rare in my country which is probably why you're allowed to ride them on learner car licenses.

Here in Michigan it's $15 for a sticker that's good for 3 years.

Yup in Delaware only $5 for 3 year inspection. (Thats after you get hosed for initial title & tag) no special endorsement or ins. Required. But give it time they will find some way to milk some more from my pocket.

But give it time they will find some way to milk some more from my pocket. Hell, here they dont even look at it. You walk in with the registration from the PO (signed) and walk out with a sticker and a new reg. This last one I got had the reg and I got it signed by the PO but the whole vin wasn't even on the paper. Just the last several serial number digits. Luckily the last sticker number was on it and they apparently had the whole thing recorded in the computer. The whole thing didn't even take 5 minutes. It's real easy here for people to register 150s as a moped because the state doesn't even look at the vin's. You get in big trouble w/fines and stuff if you get caught though. Theres a group in a town nearby that you see (high schoolers) that ride together that half of em have 150s reg as mopeds. They're kinda dumb tho because they don't even bother to remove the "150cc" stickers from the side.
