I decided to put my recently acquired LeoVince GP exhaust on this scoot today. It matches the looks of this scoot so well, but it just wont fit. This scoot has a huge gas tank under the floorboard, and the fuel pump shroud is in the way of the pipe by less than 1/2 of an inch. I would trim the shroud away, but the exhaust header would end up sitting against the fuel tank dip tube.

I parked this scooter about 1 year ago because it developed a vibration somewhere in the CVT. I had so much other stuff going I have not had time to work on it until now. I pulled the CVT cover off, but I cannot find anything out of place. Very low miles on the scoot. The belt still looks new, clutch and torque driver moves ok. Gearbox is smooth, and the variator and bushing seem fine. I will weigh the variator weights tomorrow, but if they check out ok, I am stumped.

I dig that thing. I had an Benelli M50 for a week or so that I flipped and loved the seating position and the large wheels. It was hard to sell it, even if it was Chinese. Hope the vibration is an easy fix for you.

OG what leads you to believe the vibs are from the CVT?Is it smooth setting at idle then vibrates when you take off?

OG what leads you to believe the vibs are from the CVT?Is it smooth setting at idle then vibrates when you take off? It is kind of weird. When you have it on the stand there is a strong vibration that kicks in at around 5K RPM and it drops back out when you release the throttle. IRRC when you ride it, there is more of a noise than a distinct vibration.

Wheel bearing?

It may be wheel related now that you mention it. Today I checked the variator roller weights and they were all 6 grams, so I decided to put a hoca variator that I had on, and lighten the weights a bit. The stock belt was riding kinda deep in the rear pulley, so I put a slightly longer belt I had on. It still has a rather strong vibration on the stand once you reach a certain RPM, but when you ride it everything seems smooth and quiet. Top speed is about 42 mph, and it takes a bit to get there. I counted the gears using the clutch bell and tire and I get about 16.4:1 I could not wiggle the rear wheel so possibly the 16" wheel just needs to be balanced? They are tubed tires.

Obviously I meant shaft bearing but tires can cause that sort of phenomenon.

Look what I found on CL today! I had to basically borrow money to get it, but I think it was worth it. It looks awesome for a 2002. It does not run, but it seems to have compression. It only shows 29 miles on the OD, but the owner said it was more like 1200 - 1500. He also said it started leaking gas out of the carb a couple years ago and has been parked ever since. He was adamant about it being sold "as is" I did not even try to beat the price down because he was nice enough to wait all day for me to come get it despite getting multiple calls. It included a GIVI case and the whole thing set me back...$250.00! I am excited to have finally found a CLEAN scoot for a great deal!

Old Geek, I too had a garage find on a 2004 Ciak 150 cc in black. She's meticulous. Wouldn't start and found the rotor is defective, go figure; under 1000 miles on the odometer. Paid the widow $200 but it'll cost more to get it moving. I'm looking forward to riding my find. What do you think I'll get out of the 150? 50-60 MPH? Regards, Ralph

ralph I no longer have my Ciak, it was a 50cc 2 stroke. They are rare as hens teeth in the USA. If yours is the 150cc 2 stroke model, then you really have a ultra rare scoot on your hands. I am just guessing, but 50-60 should be about right for a 150cc stock 2 stroke. As you may have already found out, getting parts for the Italian made scoots can be difficult. You mention the rotor is bad, that is kinda weird, usually the stator is the issue on scoots. 2 strokes can be very tempermental. Post some more pictures when you have time, we will do what we can to assist you with it. Please feel free to start your own thread for your scoot!
