Git a 2012 Tao Tao vip that won't stay running when i take hand off throttle. Found a hose coming out if top part of engine that looks Luke its been cut font know if this is supposed to be like that. Did not find the other part of hose or a place to connect it to connect

Just a guess- but the hose is probably the carb overflow/breather. Is the cut at an angle? that's ususlly how they look... There will be a few hoses that go nowhere and a few that are critical. Maybe turn the idle screw up to keep scoot running? Could just be that simple!

Ya that is exactly how it looks. Turned the idle screw up a bit so it idles good when i first start it but when i try to ride it it wants to die when i go to stop. I live in Missouri so it has been pretty cold dont know if that has something to do with it.

Possible idle mix ajustment needed? Or carb needing a clean? Just tossin ideas out there.

Kinda sounds like a lean idle- when it gets cold it's time to upjet- or maybe adjust your idle more rich like Scooterpimp suggested. Turning the a/f screw in will restrict air which equals "more fuel"... try turning your air/fuel screw (also called 'mixture screw') in by tiny turns (be sure to give scoot a few seconds or maybe burp the throttle to see how the adjustment is acting). The Tech library is awesome for this kind of info! h ttp://49ccscoot.proboards.com/thread/429/idle-mixture-adjustment

If you haven't removed the cover over the mixture screw you will not see it. Look at the picture above and drill into the plug covering the screw then pry it out. As you can see it is on the side of the carb with the enricher. Then you will likely need to back the screw out a bit to richen the idle mixture.

Would a bad battery have anything to do with it. Have ti jump start battery and scooter idles good on main quicksand but once i take it off that it will idle way down and dies. Its pretty warm out today so don't know if the problem is the fuel mixture screw. Any ideas on this?

Actually niz on the 4T carbs the mix screw is the opposite. The screw meters fuel not air. raven: Your screw has a D shaped head on it right? I have seen where you can use a piece of small copper tubing or a piece of radio antenna and flatten one side to fit on the head of the screw. If you can get the screw out all the way then you can cut a slot in it with a hacksaw blade so you can turn it with a small screwdriver, Anyway, you wanna turn it outward. I have a regular slotted screw for a 50cc carb I can send you for free if you PM me your address. The Honda Metropolitan and Ruckus carbs have a screw like that. This pic came from the ruckus forum:

I thought the same thing for a while til I saw a web page that explained that if the screw is located to the rear of the bowl it's an air screw and to the front of the bowl it's a fuel screw.

Be careful with very cold temps & todays gas , been seeing alot of iced gasoline lines , as well as diesels.
