I agree with 90gtvert , life is alot easier with auto darken shields , i cant count the number of times i used std. Shield/helmet & by the time i tipped it down i would start about 3/8 away from where i was aiming sometimes

If you could devise a way to turn the voltage down for the thin stuff,it'd likely do OK(ugly though). We have a H-F similar to yours and have built many precise stands and jigs for aircraft refurbishment..Darn thing always works well!

the cheapo welders have lousy earth clamps improve the earth clamp and the welder will run better.

I made my first actual repair on something using the welder today- a scoot of course! Both mirror mounts were snapped clean off on the Derbi with a tiny stub of thread in each hole. I have a plan! I ordered a set of mirrors from partsforscooters.... ...And welded a new nut to each side! Pretty? No. Functional? Hell yes! Gotta start some where... Yeehaw for the first successful welding repair!
