Shot in the dark; anyone live in the Boston area who has experience/necessary tools for modding/upgrading/tuning scooters? Specific knowledge of Yamaha Zumas a plus.

For what a shop would charge you can buy a few tools and do the work yourself any time you need to and end up with a better tune than a shop will get you unless one of the guys here is close enough to help you out. On the carb mod i think you need a t27 tamper proof torx bit to get the top of the carb off

If it helps at all- the Zuma is practically identical to the 2t Minarellis you see on this site- assuming it's the bugeye Zuma of course...

this is the first page ive read since signing up, i live in the boston area and just got a scooter, also just did my first oil change successfully, there is someone from this forum with fantastic videos on uncrating his taotao atm... i believe his series of videos on uncrating goes through 50-75% of the things you would be working on on scooters, it was a huge help to me changing the oil. check it out Link: www.youtube.com/watch?v=0VkNHOAOyK8&list=PLm3-Rt5jsolvEQcIl1CMZGW5Yj_kP4Wjc

well thank you very much, i havent had a second to go over my whole scooter but i have put 100 miles? or km on it and figured i had to change the oil, and boy was i glad i did because it was dark. but basically those videos are great, and good quality, you can hear him the whole time and see what he is doing, not like some others on youtube... i was curious about others in mass but it doesnt seem like so many on this forum hopefully i will end up seeing more.

There's a member map here: 49ccscoot.proboards.com/thread/856/49ccscoot-com-member-mapNot sure how exactly to use it, but I wouldn't think it's that hard to figure out.
