I was looking at some BWS 100 parts a while back- crank specifically and 190mech mentioned they're not the same.. not 100% but I don't think the vari will fit...

The splined side of bws100 crank is standard large spline i think the crank is longer on variator side than the 90 stuff. Robert or John could tell you for sure. The bws 100 td will work fine

The crank is bigger od and uses bigger bearings but the variator is standard large spline

Do you know if the BWS 100 td has a larger diameter than stock stuff?

The td is bigger than the standard mina stuff and smaller than overrange. 115 standard 124 bws100 128 overrange. I could be off a little I'm working on memory. Carlos had a variator that he said would fit the bws100 if you took the e start stuff off that was 115mm od (still working on memory) that was for a Zuma 125 I think. Whatever it was i measured and it would clear my Yamaha cases

Thanks for the info!
I was not really clear in my first post about why I am asking. I am looking for an alternative source for an OR for a 90cc setup.
I think I am going to take the plunge and order the variator and the TD to satisfy my curiosities. I should be able to get both for around $225 shipped.

Sorry I missed this thread!Yes, the splined shaft is 6mm longer but are the same spline,it does use bigger bearings and seals too.I looked into the BWS vari as an overrange too, will need a bigger TD to get the extra belt travel though.Perhaps a RS100 TD will work as I have an inner sheave on mine and it does fit..

Alright, sounds like it has been done already, and it will work. Likely not as good as a malossi, but at about 1/2 the price.
Any idea how much longer of a belt will be needed?

I just noticed in the TD picture, it has 3 pins for the grooves instead of the normal 2 most other stuff uses.

The one I linked to from autotech appears to have 3 pins, and only 2 sets of grooves. Listed as "performance upgrade for the BWS 100" and RS100

Speaking of BWS100 stuff,Ive looked for a stock stroke crank for a longtime wish project.Stock is good, even with a fried rod is better..If anybody sees one, give me a holler!!
