Hi again guys. Title of thread is because I am asking another question and I offer nothing in return because I am a dimwit. This one might be kinda easy tho. Here is the "problem", when I ride, it sometimes sounds like popcorn is popping under my seat. Not to overstate, but sort of the same sound a NASCAR gives off when they come off the gas. Sort of like a backfire, but not quite as pronounced.
My mechanic says it is probably nothing to worry about, but to bring it in Saturday so he can have a look/hear.
Any ideas where perhaps I should look, was thinking perhaps a new spark plug, or maybe an exhaust leak.
Thanks in advance,
Alan

I have the same problem, it sounds like popcorn is poping under my seat. Even when im not riding. Could be i have an exhaust leak.
*farts*
See? it did it again!!!
There are no dumb questions, just dumb answers and im pretty good at that.
I would say exhaust leak. Just check if both bolts are well tighten.

OK, well it seems we have gotten to the bottom of this issue. Scooter finally died. Not getting spark. Took it my mechanic, and it appears that the stator is bad. Now the wonderful news, when the "mobile mechanic" did all that work a few weeks ago, it seems he cross threaded the round metal thingy that has to be removed to get to the stator. I wish I knew a trick to dislodging this, as my mechanic says that I must take it to a machine shop to get them to remove the nut. Anybody have any ideas, because it appears that I will be leaving the scooter world on this one. Far too much trouble to keep this thing. Will just go back to driving a car.
If I can handle this myself, for very little investment, I will keep on keepin' on with my scoot. But I am up to well over $1200 in this thing.
Thanks in advance,
Alan

Someone with an imapact wrench could probably get the nut off of the flywheel, but it sounds likely that your crank threads will be damaged. It could probably be rethreaded. Hopefully the flywheel itself is not damaged. It should have threads on the inside of it for a special puller to fit. If those are damaged it may not be fun to remove, but perhaps some heat to expand the flywheel and a different style of puller like a jaw puller could do the job. Depending exactly what is messed up and how bad it could get expensive paying others to do this unfortunately. Any chance the "mechanic" that did this can be contacted to see if you get get anything from him? Just don't let him work on it again. Putting a flywheel nut on is a very basic thing so if he messed that up I wouldn't have a lot of faith in his abilities. Info on crank threads just in case it's of any use : 49ccscoot.proboards.com/thread/402/repair-damaged-crankshaft-threads

Ok....it is the threads inside of the flywheel that are stripped, so the puller like in your vid will not work. Bought a set on 3", 4", and 6" two jaw puller set and they just don't fit right. The 3" just starts to slide off once torque is applied, and the 4" is too big to fit behind the flywheel.
Anybody have any ideas on how to get this off, end of the scooter rope is near.
And BTW, the flywheel nut is just fine.

Make the 4 inches puller fit with a grinder.

That is a wonderful idea, however, because of the stupid design of this crappy Harbor Freight tool, once pressure is applied, they just start to slide off. I think it is because it has crappy bolts that are supposed to "hold" it tight. Perhaps this is a fool's errand after all...

I am currently looking for a type that will fit into the 2 smaller holes, that may be the trick. Of course, it may just be that it ain't coming off no matter what I do!

Loosen fly nut flush with end of crank , have someone hold levers / prybars holding pressure on flywheel , then use punch & hammer to shock the nut & it should break free. Then replace with good flywheel.& keyway.

Perhaps this is a fool's errand after all... 1-You're no fool. 2- You made it here, and we're gonna get this little scoot run like new. 3- Try the "PimpWay" to pull out your flywheel. If that dont work, someone else will come around with some redneck/hillbilly/crazy idea that will work. 4- 1 thing in life you should never allow yourself to do is: give up. Never ever give up.

You can certainly buy bolts that will fit thru the slots that will work you need to know the dia and thread pitch which I am sure some one can supply
