It should be out at least a turn, or close to it. You try to adjust the idle down?

yeah, i turned idle all the way in before the idle even went up then went way up, have it turned i think 2-1/2 turns out now.. the mix screw is still closed and runs.. the wheel shoots way fast even the SLIGHTEST turn, even 1/4

well i got her running this am, but i cant have the carb right.. have the mix screw all the way in, just to get the back tire to stop... stilll smokin but idk what oil he used either.. should the mix sscrew be at LEAST 1 turn out?.. i will send brent a pic of this broke down beast in a few just to show thelooks of it.. the speedo works and she only has 5800km on it Idle air screw should be set at 1 3/4 turn initially then adjusted in or out up to 1/4 turn to achieve max RPM. THEN adjust the idle speed using the idle speed screw. If it's not reducing the idle speed then either the throttle cable is too tight or the carb slide is sticking. If you adjust the throttle cable BE SURE to readjust the oil pump setting. Here's a download link for the manual. www.motorscooterguide.net/Manuals/Honda_NH125_Service_Manual.pdf

From thebatman... this is the honda areo 125 i picked up for $120.. new dunlop tires +1 anyway.. going to use this engine in a daelim e5 frame. it has the plastics, not warped..lol not a big fan of this style...got a engine tho....lok i just took the cvt cover off and this is what i saw.. i even rode it to the store. handfulls of rubber, had to have chewed up a belt.. has anyone ever seen a oem var like this one? check out the drive boss... wonder how it gets deresctriced???....crazy looking on this one.. even traces of oil?/liquid inside the var too, but the oil seals are dry. i guess this is a starter bendix...how in the world would it come off?.. it dont slide off i know....lmao this cover on the var.. wouldnt this restrict the var?... wondr if i can leave it off this is w/o that cover. seems like now the rollers coukd travel...lol. you would not believe the grease that was inside this var...idk y either......

Glad to help.
Maybe someone with experience with the Aero can chime in, but I'm not sure if that back cover plate on the vari would restrict it or not. It depends just how it's made and works together, which is hard for me to tell via the forum with no experience. It may hold the vari together just enough to be safe so rollers don't disappear and guides don't break, or it may be restrictive. Best advice I can give you is to examine it closely and see what you think. If you can't tell, once it's right otherwise you can mark the vari and see if you get full belt travel. If not, then it may be time to start experimenting.

i've only had a limited experience with the aero and as far as i could tell the plate was a restriction, like the spacer in between the vario halves. i've only seen 2 of them up close so sorry i can't help anymore than that.

from thebatman... this is the t.d on the aero.(figured i'd clean it,grease it.. this lip on the outer half.... would this not be a restriction for belt travel? ??. between that lip and the var cover. isnt BOTH a restriction??. it is a 125. dont know if they are even restricted. heard past a 50 isnt by the cdi,var...idk tho of course.. any input??? check out the moveable drive face.. see how instead of a ramp it has a sharp drop??.... isnt a "ramp" a better idea than this sharp drop??

What you see in the center of the pulley shouldn't be a restrictor because it has a reciever. It's not going to keep the pulley from closing, or doesn't look like it from the pic.
A steady, single angle, ramp can work quite well for performance, but what you have there might make it a better rider and drop the RPM for cruising. The one cool thing about steep Vs like that is that you really get a "downshift" sensation if you go WOT from a low cruise. lol

hey, thanks brent.... i was wondering about those. yeah, the pulley does close, other side has a recessed spot... i put it all together, i did leave off the washer that was inbetween the var halves.. according to the book, honda, ppl, this thing should hit 54mph oem.. i could only get 45..W.T.h?.. idle still stinks.. not really wanting to, will tho but will die too.. havent found any air leaks yet..via carb cleaner.. did notice a "dead spot" at about 20-25 to 35.. woulda figured be alot peppier than this FOR SURE.. carb prolly not totally correct yet.. am able to have mix screw out at the right turns today... ;D.. guess thats a + in the right direction
