got the bbk installed today, a few things need to be checked over but I'll do those first thing in the morning. Noticed the intake manifold has two ports...one was already blocked off and the other didn't have anything connecting to it, is it normal/safe to leave the other unconnected.
Gotta change the main to the #90 jet that came with it, tuck the wires along the frame and I want to change all the hoses to something that won't crack and split. Found a few hoses that were splitting may be what was giving me the bogging issues. Also apparently the guy before had led lights installed, I'll check those out tomorrow too.

Also got some 108 octane boost, it has 93 in it now but we'll see what the boost does.
Next on the list, install torque and clutch 1500rpm springs along with the variator and 8gr weights. once performance mods are done a I'll work on the aesthetics. Thinking foot peg extensions with bmx pedals, changing the handle bars of course, changing out the headlight thinking something from an old chopper and mounting it lower, might vinly wrap the battery box and getting a tank cover and wrap it to match.

the vacuum on the manifold that is not hooked up should go to the fuel petcock to open and close it the other side usually goes to emissions

Got the kit installed today and for some reason turning to the ignition it tries to start but doesn't actually crank. Guessing I'm gonna have to check the timing and wiring...uhhhhhhh

Almost got the starting issue fixed....it cranks but the starter still turns when ignition is turned on. Still bogs down just a little but hitting the throttle solves it. There's gotta be a leak somewhere....had it running for awhile with a little white smoke. Definitely can hear the difference from stock but but the performance just yet. Think I might take it to the shop and have them test compression for safe measures.
Haven't changed anything with the clutch yet just trying to tune it and have it running smoothly for now.

No smoke and no more issues with the starter. I had to replace a few wires. Everything seems to be running smoothly. I need to adjust the carb. Can't tell is its running to lean or to rich. I closed the bottom screw all the way, made it a little hard to start, once running I did half turns until I heard the engine running without it sounding as if its going to cut off, 1 1/2 turns total. Took it for a test ride, rode pretty smooth but it still seems to want to cut off.
Could the jet be to small its a #90 jet? Should I go to a bigger one? Also I've where others have used a 150cc carb, have you had any personal experience with using a 24mm carb on a 50mm bbk?

#90 should work fine, check the spark plug. white = lean, black = rich, dark tan color is good. 1 1/2 turns may be too little, try running at 2 turns and see if that helps any.

That's what I'm trying to fine tune, will try full two turns next time. Hopefully the weather holds up this week, really wanting to get this thing tuned right and see how fast it can really move.

I just can't get the carb tuned right. I've been able to start/crank the motor but I have to have the throttle opened a little for it to crank, maybe its not getting enough air. I've been playing with the idle mixture screw and it seems like having it between 1 1/2 and 2 turns gives better results. The battery definitely needs to be upgraded. I've read others going up a size or two on the idle mixture screw. Since I'm still a newb, what can be expected up sizing the idle mixture screw? I'm thinking of getting a 24mm carb....

i Love my maddoG. Gonna keep up with this thread. Lol I'm having trouble with the carb as well. I seen a 20 mm carb on e bay for like 35. 02Strider or something like this. A scorpion product. Make sure to get replacement kick start gearing as they seem to go real quick.

try bumping the needle up a notch or the idle speed screw

24mm carb is overkill /too much 18-20 mm is sufficient.

I can tell I'll need to replace he kick start gearing, I've been able to kick start only few times then it gets a little difficult. I'll follow your thread as well highmoose, we might be able to help each other with our builds. I have a '13 maddog as well.
