I bought a 1998 Derbi Hunter recently and one of the side body pieces has a chunk of plastic missing. According to the recycle symbol, it is ABS. It is vertually impossible to find body parts anywhere in the states and the Euros are very reluctant to ship to the states. If they are willing to ship, it will cost a fortune. Can anyone give me some tips on how to rebuild the missing piece? I have a panel that is identical to it on another scooter. Any hints how to make a mold of it to replicate the missing piece? Thanks,Derbimam

Do it all the time. Show me some good pics of the damage and I'll tell you exactly how you can repair it to like new. Even with large chunks missing

Find the biggest decal you can find & slap it over the hole!

This is the only picture I have of the piece. I had it on my phone and took a while to find it.

I am glad that I was not the one who crashed it. I wish the previous owner would have kept the broken piece but it is what it is.

Ok. That's a side piece. Good. Do you have it's opposite twin and is that in tact?
In other words if that's a left side, do you have the right side?
You said it's been hard to find. Before I went any further I would make SURE you have exhausted every avenue to find a replacement (ebay, craigslist etc)...then if that fails or a replacement is just too expensive.....you will need to repair that piece.
You will need..........
1). The opposite side piece (hopefully in tact)
2). 2 boxes of plaster of paris from Walmart
3). 2 - 3 inch deep aluminum foil basting pans at least 14 x 14" (available dirt cheap at dollar stores)
4). 1 automotive fiberglass repair kit

Yes,the left side is in tact. I have searched everywhere for a replacement. Everything is in Europe. They either do not ship to the US or one supplier wanted $180 just for the part in the UK. That does not include shipping, which is probably ridiculous.

They are the ones that want $180 for the part plus shipping to the US. Not happening!!! I only paid $200 for the scooter.
