an afr 185 equipped injected 5.0..... t5 trans and 4.10's in a 2wd 87-89 ranger. that would be my dream not too much power just enough. maybe through some 17's on it and mess around with the ttb front a little bit... fabricate a panhard bar or link set up. basically a truck that not only handles well on the drag but can still hit the back roads as well. damnit you guys, now im gonna have to go buy a ranger...lol my stang still is on jack stands without an irs...lol too many projects

I think if you get the 'stang on the road with the Cobra IRS, upgraded brakes, Cobra wheels, larger sway bars, adjustable shocks and struts, and the current powertrain you'd forget all about the Ranger project for a while. It would out handle and come close in a straight line. Put a better set of heads on the Mustang and it could be a great street/strip car. Take it to an auto-x one weekend and a drag race the next. Just swap out the Cobra wheels for some 28x10.50s out back and skinnies up front.

If I had my rathers for a replacement motor for my Ranger it would be a turbo 3.8 T-Bird motor. Lot of latitude for power there w/o much of the ill handling nose heaviness of a big block. Oops. My bad. T-Bird Super Coupe had an Eaton Roots-type supercharger. Rated @230 hp @ 4400 rpm & 330 ft. lb. torque @ 2500 rpm in last years of production.

Yeah, the turbo coupe was a 2.3L turbo like the Mustang SVOs. A friend's girl had a couple of SCs and I got to check an engine out torn down. I was impressed. It really looked like it was meant to make good power. They were gonna have the blower ported, swap pulleys, bore .030", and some other stuff here and there... but then they split up and she moved to AZ so I have no idea how it ever turned out or if it ever got finished. www.youtube.com/watch?v=F8r-3a_ZCJc

The only problem that i forsee with my mustang project is wheel fitment... the 03 wheels have a 6.12 backspacing everyone is tellin me to run a 6.75 to 7" backspacing....i guess as long as the fender is rolled and i use 245's hopefully it shouldn't rub. But on the other hand i cant run too much of a backspaced wheel or the tire will hit the irs subframe bolt. But other than that its just a drop in swap.

i am going to buy the eastwood fender roller. and their caster and camber and toe setup so i can mess with that i doubt too many shops are gonna want to try and set up the alignment on the rear.

You'll need to do some measuring once you get the rear in before you order wheels. Cobra wheels may not be the best choice, might need to use a wheel with more backspacing options.
The fender roller will be nice to have. I'm sure you can get a shop to do an alignment. You might get a bigger bill than normal, but they can do it.

i think what i will do is order a set of turntables and a couple caster and camber gauges with the optional toe adjustment and do it my self. i should be able to get it as close as i need. mfe on corral has a great write up on diy alignments... nothing else it will be a great learning tool. From what i understand in fox's you want all the positive caster you can get and about -1.5* camber and 0 toe for the street. I imagine it will be a pain in the but trying to get those numbers... thats just for the front suspension i have no idea for the rear...i guess caster doesn't really matter but camber i guess just set it the same along with 0 toe on the rear.

I'd just be happy if I didn't have positive camber on my car. I don't care what exact degree it is, you can look at 'em and see that they're \----/. lol Sorry, I'm no help for setting it up for handling.
