Son if a beach!!!! While looking for a discrete spit for an air box, my youngest son asked if I would show him how my leak tester works. Sure bub no problem. WRONG!!!!!!! For those that don't know, my leak tester attached to the intake, and then blows a foggy smoke into the engine, up to four pounds, then shuts off and maintains pressure. Well, today I hooked it up, and started it, and waited, and waited, and waited , then I saw it. Smoke oozing from the cvt cover. SHHHHIIIITTTTT!!!!!!! I guess a seal got brittle from setting for a couple months, and broke when I kicked the kick lever. The seals were fine in march, they were fine when I parked the bike toward the beginning of April. Then today.... WTF? Every time I think I am going to get to ride, something else goes wrong. Yeah, I live at the bottom of a hill. I can tell you for sure that shit rolls down hill

At least crank seals are cheap..

Maybe not the best place for this question but are the crank seals accessible without splitting cases on a mina?

Maybe not the best place for this question but are the crank seals accessible without splitting cases on a mina? Yup. Remove all of the dynamo stuff, you got one behind that. Remove tha variator and the starting gizmos and you get the other one.

Yeah, they're kinda was to get to. The only thing about the seals, is they can be a MAJOR PITA. At least for me. Last time I changed seals, I liked to never got the vari side to seal good. Wound up using a thin layer of copper seal around the sealing surfaces.
I think the bearings are still new, having way under two hundred miles. But, a rebuild kit is cheaper, in the long run, certainly better with shipping. I figure to get and change the seals, and pickup a set of bearings for the final gears. Not that they are noticeably wirn, more for peace of mind.
I want to get a set if carbon fiber reeds, but realistically, fiber glass is more in my budget. Is there any solid reason to use carbon fiber instead of fiber glass? Again this would be just for peace of mind as well.
I did buy a battery in January, but now its all screwed up. I took the battery cover off last night, and the damn thing is nearly solid white. I have the receipt, but can't find it. I used a credit card to buy it, so wal mart knows I bought it there, but they wont exchange it, ir even give me partial credit. The clerk told me that they're warranty does not apply to these little buggers. Bull crap.I was told having the paper receipt won't help either. I am going to call the manager later. The warranty doesn't apply my ass!!! I took it with me when I went and bought the foot valve for that well, I figured to kill two birds with one stone, but nooo
Told ya, can't catch a break.

I thought I read an older build thread here where a member (scoobnz??) mentioned that he liked the fiberglass reeds better for stock or mild build stuff and carbon fiber are stiffer so he liked that for real high revving high end stuff... Of course there are different thicknesses of CF reeds so I'm sure choosing just the right set could help.. I'm running fb reeds and like them. I never noticed much improvement except for idling. My scoot will idle real low and smooth now at like 1500 RPM's since the FB reeds...

Cool. Thanx.
I have read that the reeds should be of two thicknesses. I believe the rear petals should be a bit thinner than the front. Or is that the other way around?? Not a big deal, my bike isn't that high revving, so probably not a big deal.
If I could ever find a good crank, that I could afford,I think my Polini kit could be a beast, with the right shims to adjust port timings. The problem is, I just can not afford to throw a bill down for a crank. Ya get what ya pay for, but I guess I dont really need a hp crank. I kinda like the thought of making the engine last a little longer, even if that does come with a performance sacrifice. Hell, its not like my scoot is slow, when it runs.
There is something I was wondering about. I know that a boost bottle, is honestly just another possibility for a leak, but I have an idea. I was wondering if maybe a spring loaded diaphragm in a boost bottle would be worth it. I did make one, but have since Los the intake that I drilled for it. As far as I can see it, the biggest disadvantage with a two stroke, is the way the intake tract pulses. Fuel mix spewing out, and trying to suck back I constantly. The scavenging effect is a little inefficient, but with the use of an expansion exhaust, some of the unburned mixture is forced back into the cylinder. In theory a boost bottle does the same, just on the other end. However, I fail to see how an empty bottle, could help as much as a chamber with a spring loaded diaphragm, that pulses with the engine. Forcing fuel back down the intake, with every stroke. Am I wrong, or does this make sense to anybody else.

Well, pulled that well pump, changed the foot valve, and then lowered the 180 feet of pipe back into the well, and stupidly turned the pump on. Forgot to hok the damn outlet back to the pump, so I took a very cold slightly sulfury shower. Any way I got paid, but its a check, so the bank has to hold it for 24 hours, before cashing it. Wal mart will not do anything with my battery. Shit heads. Any way I got home and the Dr had called and faxed a script to my pharmacy, so back to town..... Finally home. I figured I would clean Frankenscoot up. I pulled her around to the hose, and gave her a bath. That's when I saw it. Both tires are badly dry rotten, So I am almost afraid to ride on them, but I can't afford to by tires too. Murphy...!!!!! YOU BASTARD!!!!! I did find a cdi, I think. Here it is. They say for Eton America, mine was built in Taiwan. I just don't know what to do. One thing after the other. After the other, after the other, af.... you get the drift. LINK TO CDI Has anyone dealt with this seller before? I ask not just because I trust the opinions of fellow members, but because this seller has had 38 bad reviews in the last year. You are the second member to have trouble with Walmart and batteries.Call the store manager and tell him you'll write Bentonville if something isn't done. He'll cave.As to a seller with that many negatives I'd run.Not like your lucks running in your favor right now.

Frank, how right you are.
I better stay away from anything sketch, untill Murphy moves out of my damn pocket.
I found a better option, just gotta put it off for a week or so now. U so hate being broke as hell.

Sketchy was my first thought when I saw all the pirated pictures that came up with the product. They could be legit but I am not familiar with that seller.
Being broke as hell has been my position for many moons now. I hope that is about to change. Things seem to go in cycles, boom or bust, even the weather nowadays.
