My rear wheel bearing has finally gone out after 12,000 miles. I tore it apart today and this is what I saw..... I can't figure out how to get the bearing out. Anybody ever do this before? PLEASE, I'm hoping I don't have to split the entire case to get that thing out of there. I hope one you guys here has done this and knows a short-cut. Please help me out I'm outta work and need this thing for cheap transportation.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but there's no shortcut to replacing the output shaft bearing. You have you split the gearbox to do it. It's really not that hard to split the gearbox. Here's Jeremy's write-up on a gear swap to show you a lot of the process. 49ccscoot.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=transtech&action=display&thread=404It's been a while since I had one of the 4T final drives apart. Some of the shafts slide through the bearing easily, some come out with the bearing. If it doesn't come out easily, tap the shaft on the side with the threads for mounting the rear wheel as lightly as possible to remove it. Since the bearing is no good, you can use a propane torch to heat the bearing only to help the shaft slide out easier. If the bearing comes out with the shaft you can do the same thing to remove the bearing from the shaft. If it stays in the case, you can use an appropriately sized socket or bearing driver and tap it out with a hammer. You may be able to install the bearing easier by using heating and cooling. Here's an example of installing hot bearings onto a cold crankshaft. The second video shows cold bearings popping into a hot case easily. www.youtube.com/watch?v=swAccxBopSswww.youtube.com/watch?v=l6y4KMgVP1E

Thanks man! Well that may be it for this Scooter then. I have no pullers to get the gears off and no money to buy or rent Pullers. So I'm guess I'm just S.O.L. because I HAVE to have this thing for transportation cause I can't afford gas for the car that only gets about 10mpg. The only money I have coming in is $40 bucks a week for selling Plasma. I hate to say it but if I can't figure something out I may have to sell it.

That sucks dude. The reason I told you the stuff above is so hopefully you don't need pullers or a press. The big gear on that shaft will slide off.

Really? Well maybe I can do it, but I don't have a torch to heat it up if the bearing won't come off. As long as I can get the bearing off MAYBE I can do it. Thanks for the info though it was a big help.

Oh, I'm not done yet. I went and pulled my old GY6 apart, from the SunL. I ws gonna send you the bearing or the bearing and shaft if it would be easier. First, the bad news. My bearing is kinda rusty, so I don't think it's worth sending. Now, the good news. The shaft will slide right out of the bearing. As I said earlier, the gear slides right off of the shaft. So really the only tricky parts are getting the bearing out of and back into the gearbox half. You should be able to pop it out with a hammer and socket or driver as I said in a previous post. The hot and cold method should make for an easy install, or you can press or tap it back in. Using heat and cooling is less stressful on the bearings though I think. So you'll need a gasket and a bearing (it's 6004RS marked on mine, which matches up with what PFS says). There is a seal behind there, so just be careful and you should be fine leaving it in place. Can you pick it up local? I know there are a tond of scooter shops in FL. If not, I can look around for better prices on bearings and/or gaskets for ya. EDIT : This is about the best I see ATM... $4.18 Gasket Shipped (From Hong Kong though ) $5.49 Bearing Shipped
