Ok heres the thing. I finished my 96 jog, mostly cosmetic, runs fantastic. Put new battery and electric starter cranked right up. Turned off and tried electric starter and it cranked over just as fast as when it started the first time but did not start. Used the kickstarter and fired right up. A 4 year old could kickstart this bike, but why not a good spinning starter with a fresh battery? I have the ground on the cv cover bolt tight, cleaned sanded, no corrosion? has anyone ran into this?

My starter drive has failed on my Kaliber Ls and it's not the normal 20/47 it's a 18/65 racing planet shows the only hope but out of stock, UK has but will not ship to USA, anybody have any idea how to get a hold of one? Why I have this setup is anybody's guess. Why can't things be easy.

Birdman I actually found that after I took apart the starter clutch it was covered with lithium grease which I cleaned off and seems to be working ok for now, how did lithium grease get on there? I did it, dummy, I thought,I was making it easier to work, dummy, I got it, still, thanks for the right direction. But now I'm spoiled and want my Kaliber to run on electric start too,That's when I found my starter drive problem, well I'll be working on that for a while

Just replaced the Starter Clutch Assy, I can kickstart with ease but not electric, seems to be cranking but... What else would cause the engine from cranking over from the e-start?

Would any other part wear? Like the 68th gear or the boss gear?

Are you sure the engine is in good condition otherwise? Not noticing power loss or anything like that?
The starter can wear. If anything changes with the washers on the starter gear, that can affect how it works.

No, runs tip top. Is there anything else that would cause the electric starter that works great, not start the engine? Turns over whirr whirr no start but kick it, easily starts.

Weak battery maybe? Or the cell motor itself? My blue Jog has this sometimes, the first starting attempt in the morning fails but later in the day once I drove it a bit around the electric starter works just fine.
