Thinking about handlebar mods. Wondering if a quill adapter would work instead of the clamp on style....
Anyone know the internal diameter of the steer tube on a Chinese scoot?

I don't have to work today so I decided to give my scooter a good look and try to fix a few problems.
1: My scooter has been idling erratically and I wanted to hunt down the cause. Intake manifold checked. No leaks. Fuel lines/ vacuum lines checked. No leaks. Played around with idle screw and cleaned carburetor. Problem persisted. Replaced aftermarket CDI with stock. Idles perfectly at 1500 RPM. Sounds great. Very smooth.
Notes/Thoughts: I did a timing advance modification a few weeks ago. I moved the pickup back about 1/8". It ran fine for maybe a week. I think the "advanced timing CDI" didn't like it. It ran good at cruising for the most part with an occasional miss-fire. Nothing debilitating. Just annoying.
2: I have noticed a vibration for quite some time now. A subtle, but not normal one. I began to take apart the CVT so I could clean the weights and variator. Removing the variator I noticed the boss drive was pretty loose in the variator housing. This isn't normal. I grabbed my stock variator to cross check them. Sure enough, the center bushing in the variator was worn down in one particular spot by about 1/16". The boss drive fits perfectly in the stock variator. I replaced the after market DLH "performance" variator with the stock one. Vibration stopped instantly but my revs at 40mph were about 9k. Not cool. I took the 5g slider weights out and replaced them with three 5g rollers and three 7g rollers. RPM at 40mph is now 7500.
Notes/Thoughts: The aftermarket DLH "performance" variator is a piece of crap.
3: I discovered that my torque driver travel is inhibited by the torque spring/clutch pads. There's marks all over the spring from the clutch pads opening and hitting it. With the clutch assembly at rest, I can open the driver completely. If I use a screwdriver to open a pad and try to compress it, the spring hits the pad and prevents it from opening all the way. This is strange because the 1.5k spring I have in it is the exact same size as the OEM spring. It makes me wonder if it''s always been like this. What caused me to look at this closer was my ride yesterday. I was cruising at about 35 like usual and all of the sudden my bike "shifted gears" and RPM dropped by almost 1k and speed increased marginally at the same throttle (the spring slipped by the open pads and allowed the driver to open, apparently). I instantly knew it was the torque driver. That's the only thing that could cause the bike to behave that way. Not too sure what to do about this yet. I need to muddle over it a while longer.
Notes/Thoughts: The OEM drive train is sub-par. If you want a performance machine, you need performance aftermarket parts. And not some cheap Chinese "Magic" or "Performance" parts. Reputable parts from a reputable manufacturer.

44mm Stroker crank installed tonight. Button the scoot back up tomorrow. I'll slap the engine in and give it a whirl. Changed main jet to #107.5. Might shave handlebars tomorrow.

Searching online most of the day for a nice transmission kit. Found a few options. It's either HOCA or NCY.
My transmission is suffering right now. The torque sheave seal keeps popping loose. The pillows wont let go of the drum on deceleration. The stock variator sucks.
The DLH variator is garbage. I'll never waste money on one of those again.
Something is out of balance in my CVT. Hoping a complete rehaul will fix this issue.

after spending all this money on this 139qmb, we could buy a 150cc motor...something to think about...lol. I'm thinking about it honestly. $150 for a stroker crank...$150 for a quality transmission kit...$100 more, BAM! 150cc motor.

I say finished that project then start on another one.. a lot of people end up not finishing the first project before starting another one. By finishing the first one you could end up learning what works and not so when you get ready to start the second one you know what to do.
