Me too! I see how these things can quickly turn into a money pit for that little extra oomph.

Thats still good enough to use IMO. Just clean up the piston with some high grit paper and hone the cylinder. Or sand the bad spots and clean it up good. Itl work. As for the lean spot. Like 190 said, you gotta got a richer needle. You can shave the one that is in it now down too. Put it in a drill and spin it in some high grit sand paper and thin it out a little at a time until you get it.

Look at this ugly one i reused. It still runs on my Pops scoot. The rings got cooked on that one from using too much Caster oil. I had softseized it a couple times too.

Wow! Those pistons don't make me feel so bad now about re-using this one. Since this scoot is my daily driver, I ended up getting a brand new S6 sport pro cylinder kit to put in there and I will fix this one as a backup. That way if it ever goes down, I can get it up and running in a couple of hours vs. 4-5 days. My parts should be coming tomorrow.

So on my new single ring piston and aluminum cyl., the ring gap is only .005" does that sound too tight to you guys?

For that bore, I use 0.008".

I swear...one problem after the next. I just went to install the dellorto carb that I just got, and the stock cable is too long and it didn't come with a 90 degree bend. To top it off my car just got smashed and I've got no transportation. Anyone know of a good place to get the cable and bend that will give me the correct pull for a vento zip/ cpi hurricane/QJ motomojo and phbg dellorto 19mm?
