Took Brents advice and put the tranny back together as is to get the 103 up and running.That'll give me time to sort out tuning bugs and find some gears too.Installed the CVT and ignition system,then installed it on the scoot.Now I have to decide on one of the 5 pipe designs I've been fooling with.
Its kinda easy building them on the computer,but Hell in real life!
I've selected #6,heres the specs; 103cc , 184 duration , 9500rpm
headpipe .6 degree 28-33.4x257.5
1st diffuser 4.5 degree 33.4-49.1x100
2nd diffuser 7 degree 49.1-73.7x100
3rd diffuser 9 degree 73.7-101.4x87.4
spacer -------101.4x110
1st baffle 5.5 degree 101.4-88x70
2nd baffle 13 degree 88-24x139
stinger ------------24x260
#5 was 117mm dia and that was awful fat for this mildly tuned machine,soo I re-calced it for a smaller midsection,,Hope it works!!
Got started on the 'Mark 6' 103 pipe today;
Got the main body welded tonight for the 'Mark 6',its HUGE!I used info from the C-17 build for Skeedr and enlarged it for the greater bore&stroke;
Got it all "nailed down",found a good stinger,now need to come up with a new silencer design;
I cut them close and high so they don't scrape at the wrong time,roadracer guys get real mad when that happens!
Here are some POC(proof of concept) photos of the 'top' can;
And here is a POC of the 'bottom' can;
Both have plenty of clearence,the can is longer and larger diameter for the added cc's and also for a bit of interior muffler tricks too!
Took the day off today and got it running!Has much more torque,will spin the tire and wheelie,thats something the 70cc setup would never do..Needs some rejetting,its rich(good) and sure could use those upgears
Here is a short vid;
Got some time to tune the 103 on our holiday,Rechecked my pipe dimensions and found I'd made a 20mm error on thr midsection length,so I pulled the pipe to fix that decided to pull the cylinder to check my EX port width,wanted to open it to 62% chord width,(33.45mm),heck it was already 34mm's!Put the jug back on,cut the pipes spacer off 20mm's and welded it back up,installed and went for a test ride,sadly about the same.Thought I'd try some lighter rollers,removed the 6.5's and installed 4.5's,nother test ride,better!removed the 103 pipe and installed my ragged test pipe with the inverted stinger and dual outlet muffler,nother test ride,YEE HA!She's strong now!I'm thinking my 103 headpipe is too long and too shallow of a taper which I'll redo next time I have TIME!
Here is a pic of the old test pipe ;
I got around to making a new headpipe and 1st stage diffuser today for the 103,it fought me the whole way!Some of my ugliest pipes have run well,this one should run great!
Here is a side by side shot,its a big difference as the old is .6 degrees and new is 1.4 degrees;
Got in a test ride after work and can say the 103 likes the fatter headpipe,it pulls stronger and has a nice hit when it gets "on the pipe".A 1.6 degree would likely even do better,might try that on a rainy day...
