Hi guys, I have an old thread here, but since the "bent fork assembly" was a bottoming out issue that was resolved by replacing the fork oil, I'll start a new thread. Also I am happy to report that as of today, the spedo cable and puck have been installed and they are working!!
On to the third issue, today some things I noted were, inconsistent throttle going ok and then losing power, the usual wont go above 15mph, wont go up a hill faster than less than 5 mph, a flip-floppy fuel gauge (the needle was kind of going up and down in the middle range - I have yet to put gas in this scooter since I bought it), and then I think the most noteworthy thing is that I smelled gas. I think my slow-weak scooter issue is fuel related - hopefully you guys can help me figure out what it is. I think I can rule out a bad CVT belt because the belt was nice and tight looking to me, but I took pictures just in case I am wrong and also got pictures of all the numbers on there in case I need them.

Also, the engine was slow to turn over, took a while to start it... not sure if that's a helpful symptom. Anyhow, I'd love to hear your ideas of what I should try and take a look at next! Thanks!!

Maybe the ignition is weak, I.E. the spark plug, coil, or wire going from coil to spark plug is no good. Just an idea.

Thanks for the suggestion! An ignition problem wouldn't have anything to do with the slowness (max 15mph), weakness (won't go up a steep hill), or smelling gas would it??

It for sure could.

I would suggest to checkout the ignition or maybe the mainjet is too big. If it was me I would pull the plug and see what its looking like.

How old is the gas in the tank?
If you drain it out and it looks like pee then it's bad. Old, bad gas doesn't like to burn very well. Anyone here will tell you that a scooter that has sat for a long time is gonna need fresh gas.

Anyone here will tell you that a scooter that has sat for a long time is gonna need fresh gas. The gas is likely very old, the guy told me it sat all winter and I have never put gas in it. How do I go about cleaning it and the fuel lines? Just dump it out and put new gas in? How can I drain it out of all the lines and such and make sure there's not a clog somewhere? Where is the most likely spot for me to fine something dirty or clogged (in the carburetor? or in the lines somewhere or in a filter?) I'd like to replace all the lines, they are the originals and everything looks loose and leaky.
Thanks so much for your help!!

Anyone know how many gallons of gas this gas tank holds? I am thinking of getting a 2 gallon gas can to go to the gas station with as I don't really feel safe driving the scooter to the gas station it is just a little to slow. I have some videos I took of it idling in and reving the throttle while the scooter was propped up on the center stand. Hopefully that will help you guys. I actually didn't smell any gas just now and I gave it a really good look over while it was running and I don't see anything leaking actually. It is almost out of gas, so I guess I will just try putting some new gas in it (or do you think I should fully drain and clean it before I do that?)

It holds a little over a gallon. If it's almost empty then filling it with fresh gas should be okay but to drain the tank completely, the easiest way for me is to remove the fuel line from the carburetor and put it into a 2 liter bottle or a milk jug to catch the old gas. Then you remove the vacuum line from the intake and suck on it like a straw in a cup and once the fuel starts to flow out you bend the vacuum line in half while you are still sucking on it and that will preserve the vacuum in the line so the fuel will flow out. Then you stop sucking and wrap a rubber band around the folded vac line to hold it folded over and then the fuel runs out all by itself.
Drain the carb too and then after the fuel is all out of the tank, remove the rubber band, fill up the gas tank with the fresh gas, reinstall the fuel line onto the carb and then suck on the vacuum line for 10-20 seconds to fill the carburetor back up. Reinstall the vacuum line to the intake and press the start button.
The old gas makes great parts cleaner or weed/bug killer.

Thanks for the info! I think I will try and ride it to the gas station and just add new gas since the gas gauge now says less than a quarter tank - its about 1 mile away so if I have to push it somewhere, its not that far. Or I might buy a small gas can. Its hard to believe that old gas could be responsible for it not going faster than 15 mph!?! I will give it a try though. Here are some videos of how it idles and the other video shows how it acts when I rev the throttle. You can hear how inconsistent it runs at full throttle: youtu.be/4SSCIhjLCNgand youtu.be/eDCqRC2iAV4

Also, what does the air filter do? What would happen if I removed it?
This kind of sounds similar to my issue: "Running Lean-You may be running lean (too much air in the A/F mixture) if you are: 1. Having a hard time getting the engine started, 2. Once started the throttle is very tricky, too much throttle and the engine dies, and/or 3. Engine bogs and will not go beyond a certain RPM. This is commonly caused by a deteriorated intake inlet manifold." What do you think? Is this a possibility?

When my scooter wouldn't go over 15 mph it was because my diaphragm wasn't put back in my carb properly

it would allow small particles into the engine, and it would lean out the mixture.
If you want you can remove it temporarily and if you go faster, then you are too rich to begin with.
I would take off the gas line going to the carb and just drain out the gas onto grass or something. it'll evaporate.
then fill it up with new gas.
it could also be like renegade said
you might want to make sure your throttle valve is correctly in your carb. OR you might have throttle cable issues and it might not be pulling back far enough.

When my scooter wouldn't go over 15 mph it was because my diaphragm wasn't put back in my carb properly Ok, I will google this! Someone had been in the carburetor messing around previously - it was missing screws! So I know the guy had been poking around in there, maybe I'll just take the whole carburetor out and disassemble-reassemble...
