I'll try to throw a link into the thread I created there this morning.

Gear making is a science all to its own, even if we had the means, the cost of making them would be a bunch!!

Making yourself a whole gear out of raw material is impossible. But with a lathe you can make a lot happen. i'd suggest try to find a set of gears with a smaller ratio than the ones that are in it now. The gears themselves must not be wider than the original ones otherwise they might not fit in the gearcase. Find someone with machining skills and some willingness to help out without charging you commercial prices.
Mill the original gears from the axles and mill the axles out of your new gears. Press them together, a weld all around, grind down and you're done. Best would be to find a set of extra gears in case it doesn't work out...then you don't have to sacrifice the ones that are in the engine.
You'll have to try at least something to solve this problem. I would'nt be satisfied with just the fact that there are'nt any plug and play gears. This just requires some creative thinking.

So no other engine gears would work on mine?

Doesnt look like it,,Another option is to install a taller rear tire as this will have some of the same benefits as an upgear kit..Brent did it again for us in the calculator section, try some different sizes to see the changes; www.49ccscoot.com/calculators.html

If I get a taller tire, can I still use the stock wheel rim?
Plus I think I'd need to get rid of the back wheel cover which equals to tons of mud slinging around.
I don't wanna give up yet on the gears... Sigh.

I don't want to believe that the gears are exclusive to super 8s and there's no interchangeable. What other scooters have a 14" wheel? Maybe they would have the gears you're needing...

Since I'm not familiar with the type of base engines, how many are there?
Yea, if you guys don't mind helping me look , it's be great

I looked for a couple hours yesterday and couldn't find squat. I say when what you have motor wise lives out it's useful life, swap it with a Minarelli motor. Start saving money to do that. That's what I would do if it were mine, because the scoot itself is one of the best looking scoots out there. Just my two cents

Not to mention I'm happy with my paint and design job. I'm going to do some research about making a new shaft gear and intermediary gear... So if I were to get a minarelli engine case: 1. Would it fit in the kymco frame? 2. What about the liquid cool cylinder? 3. Would my phbg19 carb fit? 4. What about the variator, delta clutch etc? 5. Back wheel size? Can I use the old wheel?

The motors are fairly similar so I believe one would mount to yours. I'll get you some measurements on the engine mounts tomorrow for you. I'm thinking that the cylinder would fit on the studs, but intake and exhaust are suspect. I think you'd be better off with a regular Mina top end. Your exhaust would have to be put back to it's original shape at the header. I'm not sure what size output shaft is on the Kymco so I don't know if your vario would swap over. Not sure about the clutch either. I can get you measurements on the output shaft for the wheel and number of splines tomorrow. If your wheel is a disk then an adapter could always be made to fit your wheel on to a mina motor. It's done all the time to run Aerox 50 wheels on the Zuma and it's not that hard to do.

I'm still not giving up on the gears... Someone told me to contact tomos and see if they have any.

I doubt you'll find a gear set thats not in the Kymco family, just like finding Ford transmission parts to fit a Chevy..Possibly another Kymco may have trans parts that may work,a small tire version would have taller gears like maybe a Cobra 50..Food for thought..

Hmmm... if I'm not mistaken, the S8 has the biggest tire in the Kymco family, correct? I'll call Kymco on Monday and see if they got another model with smaller tire that actually has the same gears circumference and if they'll fit. What I need to get are : 1. More teeth on the shaft gear 2. less teeth on the intermediary gear Am I right?

Correct! If you had a tooth count of all your tranny gears,a close idea could be had for the target gear tooth count..
