Hey guys.
My name is Jeffery, I live in Virginia beach, Va.
A friend gave me his X-treme XG-505 Gas Scooter.
I am hoping to find some help with replacement and performance parts... I hope I arrived a the right place.

I believe that's more of a goped style of scooter, but if you post what you need we may be able to offer some advice. If not, pocketbikeplanet used to be a good forum for little bikes using that same engine platform so they may be able to help. There has to be a good goped/scooter forum, I just don't know what it is.

Howdy Sir and welcome! Brent is right..those are Go-Ped style scooters. When I was stationed at Naval Weapons Station Yorktown VA in 2003..Go-Ped style scooters were not legal for use on roadways. But that may have changed..so check with the DMV at VA Beach or Newport News. I work on those and they make a ton of performance parts for them!! So may be able to help ya find what parts you need.. Thanks for the kind welcome.
Glen, AFAIK they are not legal on city streets with the laws that have passed lately. But you are still allowed to beast on the sidewalks and through neighborhoods. I spoke with a couple officers about it and most of them said that if you're not being a complete moron, and you are wearing a helmet + eye protection and are lit up during the night hours they really wont mess with you.
I am at work right now but when I get home I can snap some pictures. The rear brakes have been completely removed. The Front brakes look like it's missing a part also. The key when you turn it to the off position does not turn off the engine (you have to putt the spark plug wire off to get it to stop). Earlier today when I picked it up, i put some fuel and oil in it played with the A/F ratio and got it to start up and run. It was free to me so if I have to put a little money into it I wont be mad.

Jeffery..That is the funny part.. Goped type scooters could not be ridden on the roadway when I was stationed near VA Beach..however they be ridden on sidewalks all over the VA Beach..or any other cities there. I would put big bore cylinder kits (45cc) and a Viza tuned exhaust pipe..and those things would be hitting near 45mph! Yet you could still ride them on the sidewalk..but not a road?? Here is a nice link I used to use for performance parts.. www.edgesports.net/html/high_performance.html Ebay is loaded with a sh*tload of high performance pipes also.. Enjoy.. Glenn

Yeah I rode it into work today about 3 miles, the front brakes are pretty much shot. They didnt seem bad as I was leaving the house but when I was going hard and had to hit the brakes there was nothing, I didnt even slow down, luckily I was able to coast down and stop.
I also noticed that I was wrong it is not a XG-505, it's the XG-565 which is a 2 Stroke 50cc Gasoline Engine.
Anyone have any thoughts on whether the Tuned Exhaust Expansion Kit is better than the X-CAN High Performance Muffler, the expansion kit is $46 more but I am not sure if it is worth it since they both claim about the same performance gains?

It's been a long time since I paid any attention to that style of engine... roundabout 10 years... but IIRC the X-CAN was mostly just free flowing. I never owned one, but if I ran without exhaust or with a modified stock exhaust I'd end up with a mild gain, mostly a feeling of low end torque. I had a midbike so the exhaust were different, but I used a "Sidewinder" tuned pipe and it made a clear difference in top end output, though it did rob a little on the low end. I've since messed with 2Ts a lot more in scoots and the experience is pretty much the same. Real tuned pipes can do impressive things. I'd look for reviews about each specific part, but prob end up with the tuned pipe if it is a true expansion chamber design and not another glorified stock muffler or X-CAN clone. bought a goped years back at a yardsale , pain in da but starting it being direct drive , i ended up on neighbors car hood, the first time riding it. Put on cl that same day.
