Well, after lurking here for a few months, I finally found the desire and the means to pick up my first two 49cc scoots. DSC_1450 by benandangie, on Flickr A T&G Venice and a T&G L'S49. Both DOA but the Venice looks to be complete. The L'S included a cardboard box full of enginey things. I haven't had time yet to really do anything but push them into the garage, (it was dark and 9 degrees by the time I got them home) but my plan is to have one of them ready for Twist & Gone in May. :checkered: Both engines are 1E40QMB's but they look a little different from each other. Let the fun begin.

If you need any parts or pieces for that zip clone hit me up. I have some red body panels and other pieces out on the shop. Cheap!

Well, I finally got about an hour of free time last night to get the table set up and start looking over at least one of them. After taking out 4 screws (really) and unplugging a few wires (a lot of the wiring was already disconnected ) I got to this point... DSC_1490 by benandangie, on Flickr Looks like it has a new Mikuni carb... DSC_1485 by benandangie, on Flickr I suspect this is where the box of enginey parts used to be... DSC_1486 by benandangie, on Flickr I'm not completly sure what these are... DSC_1496 by benandangie, on Flickr Also I'm about halfway through reading the Venus / Murder train thread, (31 pages!) it's helping a lot Thanks. prepare yourselves for a barrage of 2t newbie questions....

How much did you spend on those scooters if you don't mind me asking? I think you should fix 'em both but I'm prejudiced toward the Zip clone. It's is a good looking scooter when it's all cleaned up. I got a red one for free a few years ago with a bad top end and some other issues but after I fixed it up I sold it for $500 cash. A little Turtle wax and some Armour All goes a long way. Shortly after I sold the red one I found a yellow one on CL for $200. It's now my current daily driver. Bone stock.

How much did you spend on those scooters if you don't mind me asking? Nice looking scoots Fox. I got both scooters for free. But without titles. Here in Ohio that sort of makes them very difficult to sell. Right now the plan is to turn one or both of them into race scooters. I did get to spend about 3 hours today tinkering with the Venice. The inside of the carb was just a ball of brown goo, so I robbed the new looking carb off of the L'S, changed the spark plug and got it running. Not running well mind you, but it runs and I'm having fun tinkering and learning. Lesson for the day: If your scooter won't start because the carb is completly gummed up, and you put a new carb on, and the scoot still won't start and behaves exactly like it did with the old carb, it's because some goofball forgot to hook up the fuel valve vacuum line. lol.
