i bought a taotao thunder in july sence then i've bought a few upgrades a new carb, exhaust, cvt and clutch (not put on yet) and some chrome and a bigger trunk.
the trunk has working lights but i need to wire them in thats not a problem what is is getting to the break light.
it looks like i should have easy access with a cover over the light but i ccould not get it to come off.
i could take the body pannel off to do it but if i do that then i have to worry about loseing or breaking the body clips.
any idea what im not doing or missing with the cover that is stoping me from getting it off for easy access to the break light?

Hi and welcome If you could post a picture of your problem, that would help a lot.

On most scooters that little piece above the tail light assy. is connected to the two rear side panels with screws that are on the inside so to get that piece off you have to take the whole back off as one unit. You'll need to remove the seat and seat tub first and then the black piece in front of the engine and so on til you can get to the light assy. Take your time.

I had the thunder too.it takes a little bit to get it off I took mine all apart to do the pdi.the brake lights just plug in. There's 2 bolts in the back by the tail lights that have to come out.then the rack then the seat luck then some scews it took me a few to get it off it'll come off all in one piece.the hard part was trying to hold the whole thing up putting it back on to hook up the wires.o don't forget to plug the light for the lic plat back in just do it slow and remember what go's were and you'll be fine.

Thanks for the info but that's what I was afraid of so I think I'll just run some new wire to under the set to hook up the truck.
On another note I put a chrome belt cover on and a new clutch I have a new variator but I could not get the old one to come off is I ordered a new removal tool witch I'll do this weekend.
However after I got the cover on without the kick start (Cuse I couldn't get it to go on right) I now have a rattle sound comeing from the variator area.

OK now hears a question for who ever
My bike has 120/70 - 12 factory rubber which needs to go cuse with 350 k on them there all ready looking bad. Now Ive ben lookin around at different types (like rain and snow and street and stuff) and ive noticed that There is a big size difference in the with and very little space on the bike (for the rear tire) the height has a few inches to spare (but not much).
Now i dont have any tire shopes close to my house that sell scooter tires so i have to buy online (not a big deal) but theres no mech guy to ask about a different size fitting or not.
Now my question is will a 140/70 - 12 fit height should be fine (its only 1 inch taller or it should be) but it is more then an inch wider.

There is a writeup by 90gtvert in tech area on tire sizing. Be careful the metric tires of today can have the same size marked on them but can vary in size. The whole aspect ratio thing can be a pia. I recomend sticking with the 120/70-12 its a common size which gives more choices , brands , prices etc.
