Conventional oil is petroleum based. Refined and based on a naturally occurring product. It's the cheapest. Synthetic is man made and engineered for superior properties but costs the most. Semi-synthetic is basically a blend of the two that can provide some of the benefits of synthetics but with a lower cost.
