How large of a task is putting in upgears? I found some for my super 9 for a decent price and would have to tackle it myself. I've done several bbk with great results, and countless other repairs and mods on my own and others scooters. Also, what exactly might it do with my performance? Just top speed? I live in Asheville NC, so there's quite a bit of hills, mountains. Would that become a problem?

I got a friend with 15/50 on his top trophy BBk he gets to 70kmh pretty darn fast and tops out at around 80- 85 kmh.
Malossi straight gears have that awsome turbo sound on take off.

I'm already hitting recklessly high top speeds, take off could be better, but I haven't focused on that more than increasing the power of the whole thing. I've tried to keep it balanced with top speed, acceleration, and ability to handle down shifting well. The one's I'm looking at ate malossi htq 15/44 . I'm clueless to what that actually means. I haven't done my homework on that yet.

It depends on the case but in my case It would be pretty simple.
My gearbox opens on the CVT side so I don't need to remove the wheel. One set of gears fits inside the other one but the other set of gears is press fit into eachother.
Worst case scenario you'd need to remove the wheel, open the gearbox, drain gear oil, remove clutch, remove gears, use a press to seperate the gears and then use a press to fit the two gears onto the other two gears.

I have malossi gears in my axis. 17/40, guess those are the tallest available. Engine is turning around 10k at 60mph and 11,5k @ 70mph.
I heated the gear and pressed it on the axle in a vice with some sockets. Make sure to heat the gear sufficient, you don't want to use force to press them together.

Could I ask you for the specs of your axis? Wondering if my bike could pull 70mph with these gears

I've heard that my s9 already has taller gears than most.... If you get the up-gear set, make me a good deal on your current set. My S9 with malossi is still topping at the K- M on the speedo.

Okay. Haven't decided yet. I'm hesitant. My top on flat goes past the kmh as is, still with room to go at about 11k. I was hoping it would drop my cruising rpm.

That is of course if your willing and if they aren't the same ration as what's already in mine. I'll have to do the gear index thing Brent posted, and count my current ratio. BTW I took the 9 into the city today... fucking ripped!!! I was pulling on everyone and everything from light to light. Passing on straits and caught up to and passed a Buddy 150 that put a Genuine (pun intended) effort into catching me.
