Talking about cops in another thread made me dig out some of my old tickets. The scary part is, lots of them were thrown out. I got 17 warnings before I ever got one ticket too. Looking back at these I can't help but realize I'm an idiot at times and growing up isn't all bad. lol


Driver Spinning Wheels : Did a burnout in the middle of town in front of a cop

Driver Spinning Wheels : One week later. Same cop.

Failure To Drive On Roadway In Designated Lane : I was on the sidewalk

Negligent Driving : I should have never got this ticket. No cop ever saw me. I was young and when I was questioned I didn't give the right answers. I was reported by numerous people over a 20 minute period. Among other things, I did numerous burnouts. I ran a car off the road (I really didn't run anyone off the road, but I guess I scared someone). I was probably going about 50MPH in 25MPH zones.

Excessive Speed In A 55MPH Zone : It's a warning and doesn't say the speed. I've had so many I can't remember.

Exceeding Maximum Speed Limit By 10MPH : got lucky here and the officer dropped the speed he reported. I was something like 20 over.

Exceed Max Speed : 83 in a 50.

Unsafe Lane Changing : This was when I got my first guitar and I was headed home to play it. I was reported by 3 other drivers for being a nut basically. One was an off duty officer that called ahead and pulled over to tell the on duty officer how bad I was.

Unsafe Lane Changing : Again an off duty cop called me in. I was messing around with a car full of girls onthe highway. lol

Exceed Max Speed : 78 in a 50.

Exceed Max Speed : 84 in a 50.

Excess Speed And Fail To Keep Right Of Center : I don't remember and probably don't wanna know what I was doing.

Speed Greater Than Reasonable : I was trying to pick on a Civic with a fart can in my Mustang. He wouldn't race so I took off anyway. Sped past a bunch of cops leaving a restaurant. They never got my speed. I think it was around 55 in a 30. Got lucky.

Operate A Sound Amplification System Heard From 50ft Or More : Ghostbusters theme song played so loud the cop was in a closed building and came out to see what it was. lol

Exceed Max Speed : 71 in a 50.

Improper Tags : No front tag because my car looked better without it.

Exceed Max Speed : 69 in a 50. Dropped from 70 something so I'd get a smaller ($270) fine.

Exceed Max Speed : 69 in a 45.

Operate A Sound Amplification System Heard From 50ft Or More : Pantera, LOUD. I was riding around where everyone played rap loud constantly. My stero was beefy and I wanted to show that metalheads could kick it too. The cop showed me that metalheads get tickets too.

Careless And Reckless Driving / Failure To Yield To Pedestrians : I was at Dover Mall when a NASCAR race was getting ready to happen next door at The Monster Mile. Some race fans wouldn't get off the road so I damn near brushed them with the car at speed. It was absolutely ignorant on my part. They might have thought twice about standing in the road after that though.

Speed Greater Than Reasonable : Speeding through a parking lot.

I'm just gonna say, maybe it's a girl thing...
1 speeding ticket, 27 years ago..I had stopped at my uncles and had a beer on my way home from work, cranked up the tunes and heading home...just a speeding ticket, lessened the 15 over to like 5 or something.
Pulled over for speeding, I was toasted, and giving a lift to my buddies at bar time..pretty sure I called him "osifer", warning and sent on my way...25 years ago
Pulled over for speeding, 3am, toasted after a night out with best buddy...I think I said something about "my husbands gonna kill me allready just for being out so late" best buddy I was visiting was a deputy in the county at the time...warning, 20 years ago.
Speeding, 45 in a 35, 2 years ago taking my kid to school late, warning, she was even later.
Mellowed a bit over the years, pulled over for headlight out last year.
My daughter didn't get a ticket when she trashed her car either last month

Kind of reminds me of a friend who lived up the street when we were teenagers. I think he had more tickets even before he turned 16 and was legally able to drive than I've had all my life (and I've probably had ten or more). It was practically every week or at least every month for a couple of years. He kept the Chevy mechanics busy by murdering the Powerglide (usually by revving the car in neutral and slamming it down into low) in his Dad's Impala time after time with no remorse.

A friend's mother went to court for a speeding ticket at 50 something years old. It was the first time she ever got a ticket. The judge said she definitely deserved probation before judgment, no court costs, nothing. I personally thought she deserved some kind of medal. lol Most of the females I know don't have a lot of trouble with their driving records. Smarter than us guys, or me for sure anyway.

Reg, my first car was a Pontiac Grand Prix with a 305. That poor car couldn't spin tires most of the time so I used to do neutral drops. I wouldn't dream of it today, but I just wasn't that bright at 16. There was ice in a friends driveway and I smoked out his neighborhood since I could finally do a burnout one day. I forgot my father's bud lived a couple of houses down.

I can honestly say I've never drove intoxicated. I had 2 friends that partied every weekend and drove drunk. One is dead after crashing through a man's house drunk. Luckily the guy was not in bed, I think he was getting up to use the bathroom, because he crashed right through the bed. The other could have spent his life in prison for what he did when drunk driving. In one night he racked up :

Attempted 1st degree murder
Attempted 2nd degree murder
Disorderly conduct
Disturbing the peace
Failure to obey a lawful order
Resisting arrest
Negligent driving
2 counts of 1st degree assault
2 counts of 2nd degree assault
2 counts of reckless endangerment
Failure to stop at a stop sign
Reckless driving

Basically he was screwing around and an off duty cop yelled at him. He swerved at the cop. Then he went around the block and the cop yelled again so he floored it and tried to hit the cop. An on duty cop saw him, but it was too dangerous to pursue him. I believe he did something around 150MPH through part of the town in a 25-35MPH zone when the cop tried to stop him.

That's not even the end of the story. They went to serve a warrant the next day. He told his family what happened and that cops might be coming. His father is crazy hot rodder from way back so they had a plan. When the cops came to arrest him, the dad ran out to the car (same size, both had long har, hard to tell) and floored it. The cops chased the father while the mother left a back way with the son.

Even crazier than the events... the father got in no trouble. None. The son lost his license for a year. I was pissed. I lost mine for 7 months and he actually tried to run a cop over... twice. That's the difference in being rich and poor I guess.

So yeah, I stayed away from mixing alcohol and cars. I'm not sure that it really says good things that I've done all this stuff sober though.

No, I was just lucky. Young and stupid. That was BC, (before children) once I was "Mom" the party was over for me. Priorities ya know Have a glass of wine maybe a few times a year if at all. Definately not drunk driving. Or riding for that matter :thumb:

as with batman, my list is too long to post. the one i remember the most was a speeding ticket in my semi going from Dallas to LA. i was going accross the desert in New Mexico at about 1am, the only vehicle out there that night, and i was running more than the speedo would register. all of a sudden i looked in the mirror and saw those flashing lights coming up behind me, i pulled over to wait for the officer. he told me that he'd been trying to catch me for better then 20 miles, and he clocked me doing 128 in a 75. i got a $85ticket out of it and had to pay on the spot.

A friend's parents are truckers. The stories of multiple semis doing 120+ always amazed me. There's just something not right about a dude 10ft in the air on a la-z-boy doing those speeds. lol

La-z-boy? what kinda stories have you been hearing? i run many trucks and never found 1 with a la-z-boy in it.

Sorry, not a real la-z-boy. I call 'em la-z-boys. The big air suspension seats are like nothing I'm used to in autos.

they are extremely comfy. air ride height, air lumbar, massaging feature (if you spent enough on it). i do miss my big trucks some of the time. i love being home with my family more though.

I've had more than my fair share of warnings... thought the most annoying was a cop in Ohio trying to claim I was "evading" him... I was in a middle lane of 5 in heavy traffic, I was trying to get to the shoulder safely. Nailed for 16 over the limit.

My second (and last) speeding ticket was fun though, going to a concert with some friends in the car, music blaring, just cruising down some back roads. Never saw the cop when I went by, but he nailed me going 86 in a 55... and he was far from happy when he caught up to my little saturn

I think some officers enjoy threatening you with more serious tickets than you deserve. I had one cop tell me I was street racing because I passed a car. That's a 12 point offense here, which means you automatically lose your license and good luck getting insurance for less than your first born after that. Either he really doesn't know what street racing is, or he just likes to feel powerful by throwing around big charges.

You don't always have to take the cops word for it that you broke a law either. My exit goes one way, so if we want to turn left, we drive around the block an extra mile, or we go to the next intersection, turn left, then U turn back into the expressway the other direction. My kid got pulled over for the U turn. We got on line and checked the laws, and just this January the law changed, No law against it as long as the road is not posted with a "no U turn". We took pictures and printed out the law and the Judge dropped it and got the officers name, LOL. Judge's don't like there time wasted. ( now the last 4 years we've done that same turn, we were braking the law, woops )
