how would the pe 20 or 22mm carb work for the triton r4. i am thinking someone like motion pro could make up the throttle and choke cable, but does it come with the correct slide and jets for a 2t? it is 31mm dia on the intake side and 46 on the filter side..

a mikuni would be great since i already have some jets but the mikuni 20mm is a flange mount not spigot. mounting the 20 would be a problem..

Oops!I forgot about the flange mount.I made a flange to spigot adapter for my VM22 install; I had a tough time jetting it for a while till I found it had a very lean 4 stroke needle in it.Swapped it for a thinner one,now it runs great!

great work. but all i have on the fabrication end is the famous hack saw and file. i suppose i could use a hole saw to make a hole in a piece of aluminum plate and try to find the right size tubing, then i would need to only farm out the welding. in the meantime there might be some 2t keihin 20s around, i will check with sudco. here is one that appears to be in a 2t configuration. www.bowlsla.com/store/pc/viewPrd.asp?idcategory=60&idproduct=7506

I would be tempted to check out Treats, if for nothing else, to get an idea of price and availability: www.treatland.tv/carburetors-intakes-air-filters-jets-s/54.htmThey cater to the small 2 stroke market, so one would hope that the carbs are closer than 4 stroke carbs, but nothing you buy will be "ready to go" you will have to dial it in.

i looked around the tool box and can find nothing to make the manifold from. i checked mcmaster for some aluminum plate and tubing but thats an easy 40 or $50 for materials. if i go the mikuni route by the time all the adding is done i could buy a dellorto. i will see what sudco has say to next week about a keihin set up for a 2t. the body has been and is still off the scooter for the bbk and in regards to a manual choke, can i just reach in to operate the choke by hand with the body work on or must i plan on a cable?

With my bigger dellortos and the ever choke, I would just leave the little front access panel off and reach in to operate the choke. Didn't really bug me. It could be easier or harder depending how a different carb was setup. I've got a Stage 6 choke cable on my smaller scooter that I can't reach normally. It's quite a nice piece and worth the $20 something IIRC.
